Mr. Barnie E. Moe Wakefield, age 87, of Livingston, passed from this life on Saturday afternoon, March 10th, 2018 at the Overton County Health & Rehab Center. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
Visitation for Larry Cecil McCaleb, 69, of Cookeville, will be at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home on Monday, March 12 from 4-8 p.m. with a life celebration to follow on Friday evening, March 30 at Southern Hills Golf Course. as a father, coach, golfer and an avid volunteer in the community. Larry took his last earthly breath late Saturday, March 10, 2018 at his home surrounded by family. Larry is survived by wife, Joy McCaleb, two sons, Chris (Melissa) McCaleb of Cookeville and Jimmy (Laura Beth) Holloway of Florida; three daughters, Kellie (Jason) Trent of North Carolina, Ashley (Robert) Swann of Cookeville and Jessie Holloway of Nashville; grandchildren, Noah, Zach and Caleb Trent; Finn, Mack, Till and Toph Swann; Wilder Holloway; sister, Judy Greenwood of Cookeville; brother, Kenny (Christy) McCaleb of Sparta; and stepmother, Katherine McCaleb of Sparta. He is preceded in death by father, Harley “Spud” McCaleb; mother, Ruby Lafever Jones; stepfather, Freddie Jones and brother-in-law, Sam Greenwood. He leaves behind a long coaching and teaching legacy. If you didn’t call him coach, you called him Mac, as most of his golfing friends did. He was the life of the party with his one-liners and quick wit. He was loved for his kind heart, often taking players home after practice, buying many a child’s lunch or paying for their field trips. A memorial service for Mr. Jerry Dale Cole, age 62 of Sparta, will be held at 7pm on Monday, March 12, 2018 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Mark Farley officiating. Mr. Cole passed from this life on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at his residence. Born Friday, April 8, 1955 in Cookeville, he was the son of the late Ridley Cole and the late Anna Tollison Cole. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Surviving are his wife of 18 years, Phyllis Cole; daughter, Amanda Cole; son, Jeremiah Cole; daughter, Lakota Cole and daughter, Sarah Cole, all of Sparta. Preceding him in death are his parents, and sister, Donna Cole. A visitation will be held from 5pm until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Sammie Belle McCurry, age 82, of Cookeville will be held Wednesday, March 14th, 2018 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Presley Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Franks officiating. Interment will follow in Double Springs Cemetery. Mrs. McCurry passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Signature Healthcare of Putnam County after a long illness. She was born Monday, July 15, 1935 in Gainesboro, Tennessee to Samuel Moreland Locke and Martha Cleo Pharris. Mrs. McCurry was a devoted Mother and Grandmother. When her health permitted, she was an avid gardener and loved her flowers. She was a member of Stevens Street Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and the power of prayer. Mrs. McCurry was a homemaker and a dietician at Capshaw Elementary for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Monty “Mac” McCurry of over 53 years, and her five sisters. She is survived by her son, Monty McCurry, Jr. of Cookeville; daughter, Teena McCurry-Thompson and son-in-law Allen Thompson of Mt. Juliet, TN; four grandchildren, Allen Leigh Thompson (Natalie), Kathryn Rae Thompson, Austin Trey McCurry (Rebecca), and Sammy McCurry; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM and Wednesday, March 14, 2018, 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM at Presley Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Oakley Cemetery. Mrs. Evelyn Dixon passed from this life on Saturday morning, March 10, 2018 from the Overton County Health & Rehab Center. She was born in Overton County on December 19, 1930 to the late Lester E. & Hennie Vaughn Phillips. She was a member of the Shady Grove Freewill Baptist Church. She worked for many years as a seamstress. Evelyn loved her family and her pets. She loved her roses in her flower garden and enjoyed gospel music and going to church. Evelyn is survived by her sons, Danny Bowman & wife Pam of Livingston & Otis Bowman & wife Lisa of Monterey; daughter, Alice Bull of Rickman; grandchildren, James Bull, Toni Bull Garrett, Michael Bowman, Tammy Theophile, Earnest Bowman, Thomas Bowman & Josh Bowman; 20 great grandchildren & 22 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Maudine Holt of Louisville, KY & Mable Moles of Byrdstown. In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Foister Bowman; second husband Junior Dixon; son, Foister Edmund Doyle Bowman; 4 sisters & 4 brothers. A graveside service and interment, with military honors, for Avery Philip Roberts, 80 of Silver Point will be held Thursday, March 15th at 11:00 a.m. at Smellage Memory Gardens in the Boma Community of Putnam County. Pastor Ted Kocher will officiate. Mr. Roberts died Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Baxter Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Family and friends will gather at the cemetery for the graveside service.
Funeral services for Martha Jo Fields, age 87, of Cookeville will be held Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 12:00 pm in the chapel of Presley Funeral Home with Raymond Handsides officiating. Interment will follow in Dry Valley Cemetery. Ms. Fields died at her home on Friday, March 9, 2018 in Cookeville, Tennessee. She was born on Friday, January 23, 1931, to Joe C. and Anna Mai Bartlett. She was a longtime employee of McCord’s Manufacturing Plant, before returning to school to become a Lab Technician. She worked in healthcare in Cookeville and Nashville for many years. Martha was a member of Dry Valley Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was a talented seamstress and loved to travel. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe C. and Anna Mai Bartlett; infant son Joe Ronald “Ronnie” Fields; son Michael “Mickey” Fields; son Dennis Fields; and sister, Geneva Bartlett Winebarger. Martha is survived by sister, Marcia Bartlett Byrge; son Dale (Leesa) Fields; daughter, Denise (Kenneth) Franklin; grandchildren, Kerri (Jamie) Bullock; Rachel Fields; Matthew (Kelly) Fields and Clint Franklin; great-grandchildren Wade White and Jarrett White. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery. Mr. Dishman passed away on Saturday evening, March 10, 2018 at the Overton Co. Health and Rehab. Mr. Dishman was born in Livingston on January 10, 1949 to the late Hollis Fred and Ruth Lee (Cantrell) Dishman. Charles made his living by working in the automotive factory for years. He is survived by 3 Sons: Bryan Dishman, Wayne Dishman, Travis Dishman; 6 Grandchildren: Colton Dishman, Dalton Dishman, Dylan Dishman, Hayden Dishman, Alyssa Dishman, Dakota Dishman; 3 Great Grandchildren: Keelee Phillips, August and Jay Dishman. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by: 1 Son: Scott Dishman; 1 Sister: Sue Dishman Stanley. Mr. Webb passed from this life on Sunday evening, March 11, 2018 from the Overton County Health & Rehab. Johnie was born on May 24, 1925 in Windle, TN, to the late Hannah Elizabeth (Poston) and Herman Webb. Johnie is survived by one daughter: Janet and husband Johnny Gann of Livingston. Four grandchildren: Wm. Lynn and wife Cecilia Gann of Houston, TX; Jeannie and husband Chad Cavendish of Fredericksburg, VA; Wesley and wife Cailey Webb of Baxter, and Shanae Webb of Cookeville. Eight great-grandchildren; Jordan Gann of Fayetteville, AR; Julia Gann and Jaden Gann of Houston, TX; Mason Cavendish, Audrey Cavendish and Ethan Cavendish of Fredericksburg, VA; Branch Webb of Baxter, TN, and Ava Grace Webb of Cookeville. He is also survived by a sister: Betty and husband Bill Sells of Gambril, MD; and a brother: Kenneth and wife Jimmie Webb of Livingston. In Addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by a son, John Stephen Webb; a brother, Dempsie Webb; and sisters, Edith Webb, Gladys Biddle and Sue Anna Brock. Celebration of Life for Bettye A. Savage, age 82 of Sparta, will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 17, 2018 from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Doyle, Tennessee. Bettye was born Tuesday, June 25, 1935 in White City, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Marvin and Bessie (Fletcher) Dent. Bettye was a pastor’s wife who served 58 years with her husband Ray. She served on the Kentucky district Nazarene missions council. Bettye was a representative for her local church at general assemblies, district assemblies, mission conventions, and served as a faithful Sunday school teacher. Bettye was a devoted wife, loving daughter, loyal sister, wonderful mom and a kind and caring grandmother and great-grandmother. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, March 16, 2018 and Saturday, March 17, 2018 from 9:00 am until time of services at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.

She passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born September 3, 1956, in Jackson County, to the late Sam Stafford and Hallie Biggs Stafford. She was married to the late James Harp, and was a homemaker. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 3 Brothers: George Dillard Stafford, Sam Dow Stafford, and Daniel Lee Stafford; and 4 Sisters: Jo Helen Hammock, Mae Ellen Mayberry, Frankie Keith, and Bonnie Phann. Survivors include 1 Son: Tinsley Boles of Cookeville; 2 Daughters: Jamie Gamble of Sparta, and Crystal Rogers of Cookeville; 7 Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren; 2 Brothers: Jack Stafford and Paul (Moline) Stafford, all of Gainesboro; and 1 Sister: Janie Uhles of Smith County.
