The 31-year coach of the Upperman Bees Boys Basketball team has died.
69-year-old Larry McCaleb died late Saturday.
The former Cookeville High School All-Conference performer became an educator in 1971. In 1976, McCaleb moved to Upperman High School, where he coached boys basketball until his 2001 retirement. McCaleb’s tenure included two trips to the state tournament and coach of the year honors.
In recent years, McCaleb managed Southern Hills Golf Course.
Visitation will be at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home Monday, March 12 from 4-8pm. A life celebration will take place Friday, March 30.
