The popular perception of college spring break: heading to Florida for rowdy fun.
For a lot of Tennessee Tech students, the reality appears much different. As students prepared to hit the road Friday for this week’s break, many talked about doing the un-spring break-like tasks of preparing for the future.
“This spring break, I’m going to job shadow at a few hospitals with my mom who is a registered nurse,” Freshman Nursing Major Taylor Coons said.
Computer Science Major Jordan Johnson, a senior, said a project would take the majority of the week off.
“I am going to Orlando, Florida with my capstone group to work on our software engineering project with a customer located there,” Johnson said.
Travel does remain part of the spring break plan for some Tech students.
“I am going to Vancleave, MS,” Freshman Kat Mauk said. “I’m basically taking a road trip with a few friends and driving down to go to my new house.”
Sophomore Nicholas Savage said he planned to stay closer to home.
“I’m going to be doing a lot of hiking over spring break at state parks like Long Hunter and Cummins Falls,” Savage said.
Tennessee Tech students return Monday, March 12.
