There’s an increased presence of law enforcement at Cumberland County School this morning due to social media posts referencing student walk-outs or possible threats of violence.
Authorities said they have not found an credible evidence of imminent danger, but are investigating the social media posts and their sources for possible prosecution.
According to the Crossville Police Department, unsubstantiated reports have been received, popping up on various social media platforms, throughout the morning. The posts have mentioned a planned student walk-out memorializing the Parkland Florida students. Indications are that the planned walk-outs have been cancelled. Some of the posts have indicated unverified threats of violence.
In an effort to be proactive and to err on the side of caution, additional officers will be stationed at, as well as be traveling between the schools throughout the day, until any possibility of threat has passed.
Any further information will be released as it is needed.
