Pickett Co. Executive Richard Daniel Running For Re-Election

Pickett County Mayor Richard Daniel will be running for re-election this year.

Daniel said he filed paper work to run for re-election on Wednesday, a day before the qualifying deadline.

“The job of mayor is a very demanding job that takes a lot of time,” Daniel said. “I just had to give that due consideration and eventually made up my mind that I would try again for four more years.”

Daniel said another four years in office would allow him to complete a number of ongoing projects, including, closing down the landfill and building a new jail and justice center. He also talked about the process of developing the new industrial site in the county.
