Smithville Man Sentenced To 10-Years For 2017 Burglary

A judge has sentenced a Smithville man to serve 10 years in prison for two home invasions that occurred last year.

24-year-old David Matthew Hill pleaded guilty this week to aggravated burglary. He had originally been charged with two counts of aggravated burglary and two counts of theft over $1,000.

Sheriff Patrick Ray said Hill broke into a home Twilla Lane in April of last year and stole a number of items valued at more than $1,000. Ray said the next day Hill returned to the same home looking for a cell phone that he lost during the burglary the day before.

While there, Hill broke into the home and stole more property value at nearly $3,000. He was caught when the victim returned home and called the sheriff’s office.
