Nashville authorities have arrested a serial bank robber from Atlanta shortly after she robbed Crossville’s Upper Cumberland Federal Credit Union on Saturday.
The FBI confirmed the arrest of 25-year-old Nilsa Marie Urena on Monday. She’s being held at the Davidson County Jail on a federal warrant.
Investigators said the so-called “Freedom Fighter Bandit” had robbed a total of nine banks in the Atlanta area dating back to October.
Urena earned her nickname because she allegedly told tellers she was robbing banks “for the movement” and “for the streets,” The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.
