A new judge will preside over the case of a Cumberland County man charged with fatally stabbing a Crossville Police K-9 after crashing a stolen truck and fleeing on foot last year.
The Crossville-Chronicle reports that Criminal Court Judge Gary McKenzie and David Patterson have recused themselves from the case against 28-year-old Dustin Lee Dixon. Judge Amy Hollars has appointed 15th Judicial District Judge John Wooten to preside over the case.
A grand jury indicted Dixon in October on charges of felony aggravated assault, felony evading arrest, reckless endangerment, and killing of a domestic animal.
He’s been incarcerated since his arrest on August 2nd and he will appear in court for a hearing on February 26th.
