A semi-truck crashed into an Interstate 40 overpass in Putnam County last night.
Officials said the crash happened just before midnight at mile marker 286, which is near Willow Avenue.
Tennessee Highway Patrol Lieutenant Jimmy Neal said crews have spent more than 12 hours cleaning up the scene.
“It was a very violent crash and once they hit the bridge we had to bring TDOT in to inspect the bridge to make sure there was no underlying damage,” Neal said.
TDOT spokesperson Jennifer Flynn said bridge inspectors found no structural damage.
The driver of the semi suffered non-life threatening injuries.
