WCTE will be hosting a sweater drive throughout the month of February.
WCTE Events Assistant Sam Chambers said the collection event celebrates the anniversary of a popular PBS broadcast.
“This year it marks the 50th anniversary for the beloved Mr. Rogers and a lot of the PBS stations are holding a sweater drive in his honor,” Chambers said. “With this sweater driver, we are also going to be collecting coats. All of the donations are going to go locally into our community.”
Delivering the items on behalf of WCTE will be Hippie Jack, who is best known for the Jammin’ at Hippie Jack’s music festival, which raises money for the Hippie Bus, a mobile pantry outreach program that provides food and clothing to many people, especially those in the ex-coal mining communities on the Cumberland Plateau.
Gently used coats can be dropped off at WCTE in Cookeville, One Hour Martinizing, and the Cookeville Senior Center.
