Cookeville City council members will conduct a public hearing and receive a progress report Thursday night on several areas the city has annexed since 2000.
“There are 12 areas that we have annexed since 2000 that still have services that remain to be provided that we committed to in our plan of services,” City Planning Department Director James Mills said. “It’s mostly sewer, but there are a few where we lack some street lighting and water.”
Tennessee Code Annotated requires that annual reports be prepared and published on progress of extending the services to annexed areas as specified in the cities plan of services.
The 12 annexed areas include: Old Bridge Road/Falling Water River, Buck Mountain Road/Dry Valley Road, East Highway 70/Interstate 40, West Cookeville/Interstate 40 area, Shag Rag Road, Rebecca Place/Bunker Hill Road, Bunker Hill Road/Lovelady Road, Freehill Road/North Washington Avenue, South Willow Avenue, Bennett Road Extension, Old Stewart Road, and Hall-Bennett Road areas.
The Cookeville City Council meets at 5:30 p.m. Thursday inside city hall.
