The Sparta Police Department is the latest law enforcement agency that will soon be equipped with EpiPens.
Police Chief Jeff Guth said the life-saving pens will soon be supplied to the department by the Cookeville Regional Medical Center Charitable Foundation.
“We will be able to respond to anaphylactic shock situations and we will be going through some training with that,” Guth said. “They are being furnished to the police department. There will be a small cost on our part, but not as much as if we were buying them straight out.”
The foundation has also supplied EpiPens to the Crossville and Cookeville Police Departments and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.
