Barry Wilmore Receives Theodore Roosevelt Award From NCAA

The NCAA awarded former Tennessee Tech football player and present NASA astronaut Barry Wilmore with the Theodore Roosevelt Award Wednesday night.

It’s the NCAA’s highest honor and awarded every year to a graduate from an NCAA member institution who earned a varsity letter while playing sports and became a distinguished citizen of national reputation based on outstanding life accomplishments.

Wilmore played football at Tech, became a naval officer and pilot, and was later selected as a pilot for NASA, making several space flights over the years.

Other Theodore Roosevelt Award winners include John Wooden, Tony Dungy, and George H.W. Bush.
