A large water main break in Cookeville has forced the closure of East Spring Street between the Board of Education building and Johnson’s Nursey
Officials said the 14 inch water main opened up around 2:20 a.m. and caused two large holes to form in the roadway.
“The entire road will be closed for most of the day, so please prepare ahead of time and find an alternate route,” Cookeville Police Department Captain Bobby Anderson said. “Detour signage will be placed to provide direction to those that come up on the scene.”
Since Highway 70 is a state highway, Cookeville officials will be working with TDOT on the next steps for the road.
