Crossville Looking To Hire A Fraud Detective

Crossville authorities want to crack down on fraud within the city.

Police Chief David Beaty has asked the city council to hire a part-time position for a fraud-examiner. Beaty said he’s found a certified fraud examiner that’s interested in the position.

“We deal with it on a daily basis, where someones credit or debit card has been compromised or they’ve been frauded out of a telephone or online deals,” Beaty said. “It takes a lot of man hours to work those and we are tying up a detective to do that when he could be doing something police-related.”

The city council will meet next Tuesday to vote on hiring fraud examiner position. It will cost the city and estimated $17,000 to $18,000 annually.
