Visitor Restrictions In Place At CRMC

Cookeville Regional Medical Center has confirmed 210 cases of the flu this season.

With flu numbers on the rise, the hospital has started visitor restrictions. Infectious Disease Physician Doctor Mark Pierce said visitors 16-years of age and under are not allowed in patient rooms except for special circumstances.

“Children in school tend to be really important vectors of the flu, so we choose to do that,” Pierce said. “We also ask anybody who has any kind of upper respiratory infection to wear a mask. All of our personnel at the hospital are either vaccinated or they have to wear a mask when they are in patient contact if they chose not to get the vaccine.”

The visitor restriction at the hospital will remain in place through the early spring.
