Tennessee State Parks will be hosting first day hikes beginning this weekend and into New Year’s Day.
TDEC Deputy Commissioner Brock Hill said each hike will be free and led by a park ranger.
“Our folks that work for Tennessee State Parks love what they do and love sharing their knowledge about what they do and where they work with other people,” Hill said. “This should be a fun time for people who choose to join one of our hikes. They’ll have a great time.”
Pickett Memorial State Park will hold a New Year’s Eve astronomy hike beginning at 9:00 pm.
A number of other Upper Cumberland state parks will also be holding first day hikes on New Years Day.
