91 Pounds Of Marijuana Found On Plane At Crossville Memorial Airport

Upper Cumberland law enforcement officers confiscated a large amount of marijuana following a drug bust at Crossville Memorial Airport last night.

District Attorney General Bryant Dunaway confirmed that officers found approximately 91 pounds of marijuana, THC gummy bears, and and undisclosed amount of cash on a rental plane at the airport.

Dunaway said authorities began investigating after receiving a tip that indicated a plane might be arriving at the airport with a drug shipment.

“It appeared that the flight originated out of the state of Florida and was heading back from California and passing through this area,” Dunaway said. “It was just good law enforcement work that intercepted the drug shipment.”

Authorities have arrested a female from the Crossville area and a male who was the pilot of the plane. Their identities have not been released at this time. Dunaway said both individuals were expected to be released from jail later today.

“I want to compliment the good work of the law enforcement community and we look forward to having the investigation completed so we can find out all of the details,” Dunaway said.

Officers with the Crossville Police Department, Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and TBI were involved with the investigation.
