In a written statement Friday evening, the Crossville Police Department said white supremacists and opposition groups may be in town this weekend.
According to the statement, police were made aware a group of white supremacists intended to have meetings in town or at a local park, Friday night and Saturday. The release stated no groups applied for a permit.
Social media indicated members of the white supremacy group had made a reservation at a local restaurant. Posts on social media show the restaurant was unaware of the nature of the group and canceled their reservation, citing a lack of staffing.
Crossville Police call for responsibility and respect for all. Police will work with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department and THP to ensure safety.
