$58K In Misused Public Money Uncollected In UC

More than $3.5 million in misused public money remains uncollected statewide and the state comptroller’s office said approximately $58,000 of that amount remains uncollected in the Upper Cumberland.

A total of six Upper Cumberland Counties had entities make the list of 2016 cash shortages, including,Cumberland, Clay, Fentress, Overton, Putnam, and Van Buren Counties.

Cumberland County has the highest uncollected amount at $33,411. That amount is part of restitution owed for a theft that occurred at the county’s Veterans Service Office between 2012 and 2013.
