45th Annual Mountaineer Folk Festival Returns To Fall Creek Falls

The 45th Annual Mountaineer Folk Festival Returns to Fall Creek Falls this weekend.

The objective of the Mountaineer Folk Festival is to support the development of arts and crafts in the state of Tennessee. While the festival will host nearly 100 arts and crafts sellers, Fall Creek Falls Park Curator Tommy Solomon said the festival has grown to be about much more.

“I’m excited about the whole lot of it, honestly.” Solomon said. Coming in checking out these different demonstrators whether you want to figure out how to get an interpretation or education on hemming a log or maybe working a blacksmith forge to talking to some of these musicians.”

The Mountaineer Folk festival is a craft festival, but will also feature other arts such as blacksmithing, chair caning, a sorghum mill and more. The festival will also see dozens of musicians performing on two different stages.

The festival started in the late 70s with a few musicians and craft vendors and has grown into the biggest event hosted at the park.

“A lot of helping hands make this possible and helped us see it throughout the years,” Solomon said. “From just a few musicians on the porch of the general store to a activity that can see upwards of 10,000 people in a two-and-a-half day span, with multiple musicians, tons of demonstrators, tons of food vendors just a lot of stuff going on this weekend.”

The Festival will begin Friday night at 5 p.m., continue on to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., and end Sunday at 5 p.m.
