Two Upper Cumberland girls basketball teams will represent the area in this week’s state basketball tournament.
Pairings announced Sunday tipoff Wednesday as (30-2) Pickett County takes on (31-2) Greenfield at 4:30pm. The Lady Yellow Jackets from West Tennessee feature two Miss Basketball Semifinalists, Chloe Moore and Tess Darby. Moore scored 76 points in the regional tournament last week. Greenfield won its first region title since 2006 last week.
In the 2A bracket, defending state champion Upperman will lead off Thursday’s action. The (34-0) Lady Bees will take on (28-8) East Nashville Magnet at 4:30pm. The Eagles lost the Region Five championship to Cheatham County last week but took down Nolensville in the sectional game Saturday.
The Girls State Tournament will be held at MTSU’s Murphy Center in Murfreesboro.
