2 Children, 4 Adults Injured In Putnam County Crash

A two vehicle crash in Putnam County injured two children and four adults Saturday.

The head-on collision happened around 1:45 p.m. on State Route 136 at Waterloo Road.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by 57-year-old Mary Freeman, Cookeville, was heading North and attempted to turn left onto Waterloo Road.

Freeman’s vehicle collided head-on with a southbound Chevrolet Impala driven by 41-year-old Chasitie King of Hilham.

King taken to Cookeville Regional Medical Center for treatment before being transferred to Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Two passengers in King’s vehicle, 46-year-old Tracy Allen and 71-year-old George Knauer, also suffered injuries. Allen received treatment at Cookeville Regional. Knauer flown by helicopter to Vanderbilt.

The THP said the crash injured two children in Freeman’s vehicle. A 13-year-old and 9-year-Old flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center for treatment, according to a THP report.

Criminal charges and citations were pending an investigation.
