Two accidents along Cookeville’s Burgess Falls Road Tuesday afternoon slowed traffic.
The first accident happened around 4:10pm. A car driven by 49-year-old Marie Stampfl of Crossville swerved to miss a vehicle that came to a sudden stop in front of her. Stampfl left the roadway, traveled across Meadow Wood Road and hit a tree stump.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol charged Stampfl with due care and financial responsibility.
Accident two happened about 20 minutes later. 23-year-old Allison Tyson of Baxter was driving southbound when she stopped due to traffic. She was rear ended by 22-year-old Colleen Steele of Hartsville.
Tyson charged with violation of the light law.
No injuries in either accident.
