A 16-year-old male suffered an accidental gunshot wound to the leg in Putnam County Wednesday morning.
The juvenile rushed to Cookeville Regional Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries. Authorities said the incident happened around 1:40 a.m. at a home on Southmeade Drive.
“We hope for a speedy recovery for last night’s accidental shooting victim. As Sheriff I value everyone’s life and can not express enough the need for proper firearm handling, safety, storage and training,” Putnam County Sheriff Eddie Farris said.
The Putnam County Criminal Investigation Division will continue to investigate, but no criminal charges have been filed at this time.
