12 Vehicles Catch Fire In Putnam County Junkyard

At least 12 vehicles caught fire at a West Broad Street junkyard near Cookeville Thursday.

“When we arrived on the scene, we couldn’t access the fire due to power lines down across the road,” Brown said. “We had to wait for Upper Cumberland (Electric) to cut the power so we could get in. Once we got into the actual scene, we had about 12 vehicles on fire. We hit them with a master stream and got a pretty quick knock out on them.”

Brown said no injuries occurred as a result of the blaze.

Traffic on West Broad Street was slowed significantly as crews worked to put out the fire.
