A total of eleven Upper Cumberland Schools received a grade A from the State Department of Education in the annual Education Report Card, released Thursday.
Jackson County led the pack with two of its four schools receiving A grades. Five Putnam County schools received an A grade while two Cumberland County Schools finished with an A. White County received an A as well. The letter grade showcases student achievement, growth, improvement among those struggling, and career readiness at the high school level.
No school in the region received an F grade, but 15 schools finished with a D grade. That includes five of Warren County’s 12 schools, two of the eight Overton County Schools, two of Clay County’s four schools, three Cumberland County schools, and two in Putnam County.
A total of 290 schools statewide finished with an A grade. This marks the second year the state released letter grades for each school.
