10 UC Schools Finish With As, 15 With Ds

A total of ten Upper Cumberland Schools received a grade A from the State Department of Education in the annual Education Report Card, released Thursday.

Jackson County led the pack with two of its four schools receiving A grades. Five Putnam County schools received an A grade while two Cumberland County Schools finished with an A. The letter grade showcases student achievement, growth, improvement among those struggling, and career readiness at the high school level.

No school in the region received an F grade, but 15 schools finished with a D grade. That includes five of Warren County’s 12 schools, two of the eight Overton County Schools, two of Clay County’s four schools, three Cumberland County schools, and two in Putnam County.

A total of 290 schools statewide finished with an A grade. This marks the second year the state released letter grades for each school.
