Winningham Hardware Open for Business

Winningham Hardware in Livingston is now officially open for business after a fire destroyed the original in 2017.

Owner Kenny Winningham says he’s proud of the work done on the building and is happy to finally have it open again.

“This is my dad’s vision to start with and I took on after he passed it on to me,” Winningham says. “It means a lot to me, my family, and this community to have this store here. So we’re trying to make it what it was before it burned and we’ll do the best we can.”

Winningham says the biggest challenge since reopening the store is maintaining and regrowing his inventory.

“If you find something that’s not here, come help us figure it out because we’re trying to get it back,” Winningham says. “It is hard. Some of those items, we may not sell them but two or three times a year. But if you sell it two or three times a year, it’s probably worth selling, but I won’t know what it is until the first person walks in and asks me for it.”

Winningham says he values the community’s support and looks to return the favor whenever someone enters his store.

“What you’re doing is you’re trying to listen to the people that walk in and seeing what they want. Not what you want to sell them, but what they want,” Winningham says. “That’s kind of been what we’ve prided ourselves on, and giving service when they come in and look for something. We’re not trying to get in anybody’s way, but we definitely want them to know they’re welcome here and we want to serve them when they walk in the door.”

A grand opening event will take place at the new Winningham Hardware Dec. 14-15, located at 303 West Main Street.
