Funeral services for Charles Clifton Moss , age 76, of Cookeville will be held Thursday, February 13th, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Presley Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Norton officiating. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial. Mr. Moss passed away Monday, February 10, 2020 at Signature Healthcare of Putnam County in Cookeville. He was born Monday, January 24, 1944 in Baxter to the late Lawrence Clifford Moss and Ruby Maxwell Moss. He loved to farm, and everyone knew him for his “green thumb” in the garden. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Brenda Moss; 2 sons, Jason C. Moss and his wife, Jamie and Patrick Moss and his wife, Suzie, all of Cookeville; 6 grandchildren, Kori Moss, Ethan Moss, Emily Moss, Colton Elrod, Brittany Tollet, and Camdyn Tollet; great-grandson, Lincoln Charles Bean; brother, Dewey E. Moss and his wife Daisy of Baxter, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM and Thursday, February 13, 2020, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Presley Funeral Home.

Funeral Service for Charlie Mae Cooper, 93, of Sparta, will be Thursday, February 13, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Doug Goff officiating, burial will follow at Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery. She passed away Monday, February 10, 2020 at St. Thomas Highland Hospital. She was born on December 12, 1926 to the late Charlie Black and Notie Elizabeth Medlin Cooper in White County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by; sister- Elizabeth Green, Brother-in-law- Reece Green, Brother- Rascoe Cooper and sister-in-law- Anne Cooper. She is survived by; Niece- Catherine Jane Garvin of Sparta; Nephew John Richard Green (Pam) of Sparta; Nephew- Charles Robert Cooper (Karen) of Sparta; Niece- Dianna Lorene Teeples (Joel) of Sparta; Nephew- Danny Rascoe Cooper of Sparta; Niece- Melinda Ruth Wilhite (Danny) of Sparta; Many Great Nieces and Nephews. Charlie Mae was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She loved tending to her flowers, knitting, crossword puzzles and putting puzzles together. Ms. Cooper was a graduate of White County High School where she played basketball. She later retired from Caney Fork Regional Library. She loved everyone and spending time with her nieces, nephews and her family; they loved her. A special thanks to Assisted Living staff at Life Care of Sparta, for the wonderful care provided to her. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 13, 2020 from 11 a.m. to the time of Service.

Funeral services for Mrs. Treca Grey Jones Johnson, age 91 of Walling, will be held on Friday, February 14 at Spring Hill Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. with interment following in the church cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Johnson will lie in state from 9:00am until service time Friday at the church. died on Monday, February 10, 2020. Treca was born February 14, 1928 in Warren County to Alva and Velma Schrock Jones. Treca worked many years as a teacher’s aide at Central View School in Walling, but the full-time job she most excelled at was as a wife and mother. She was the model of a Southern lady: gentle, soft-spoken, patient, compassionate, and tough as nails. Treca devoted her life to her family, especially to the care of her daughter, Wanda. Later in life she adopted many friends and family as honorary grandchildren. She was everybody’s Ma. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Titus Burl Johnson; her daughter, Sheila Joan Aytes; her son, Troy Burl Johnson; sister Gwendoline Jones Pelham and brother-in-law H.T. “Zeke” Pelham, brother Royce Darwin Jones and sister-in-law Shirley Adcock Jones, brother-in-law Jerry Lynn, sister-in-law Anne Jones, and nieces Gayla Pelham Whitlock, Lisa Lynn Abbott, and Jeanne Pelham Roller. Treca is survived by her daughter, Wanda Joyce Johnson; three grandchildren: Jason (Kate) Aytes, Ryan Aytes, and Whitney (Matthew) Burkhalter; three great-grandchildren Mackenzie Aytes, Cooper Aytes, and Jordan Aytes; siblings: Idell (Gene) West, Lane Jones, and Jane (Bob) Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive friends Thursday evening at Hunter Funeral Home beginning at 4:00 p.m.

Funeral services for Mrs. Pat McCanless, age 88 of Cookeville, will be held Friday February 14 at 11 a.m. at Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ. Interment will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery. Pat’s family will receive friends Thursday from 5 p.m until 8 p.m. at Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home and Friday from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church. Pat died Sunday morning, February 9th at 8:41 a.m. at her home.

Funeral Services For Lucille “Mema” McCowan Phipps, Age 91, Of Monterey, Will Be Conducted On Friday, February 14, 2020, At 1:00 PM From The Chapel Of Goff Funeral Home. Rev. David Harris Will Officiate With Interment To Follow In The Welch Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Phipps Was Born On June 19, 1928, In Overton County, To The Late William Napolean “Poley” And Rosetta Phillips McCowan. Mrs. Phipps Passed Away On Tuesday, February 11, 2020, At The Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Phipps Worked In Health Care As A LPN Working Many Places Throughout Her Career For 60 Plus Years. She Was A Merchant Owning And Operating E & L Market With Her Husband. She Worked With Her Father On A Dairy Farm In Her Growing Up Years At The Time When Her Father’s Dairy Farm Was The Only One In Monterey. She Was A Member Of Monterey VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #6277 And Green Pond Order Of Eastern Star #482. She Was A Member Of Sand Springs Baptist Church, An Avid Collector Of Antiques And Oddities Finding Value In Everything. She Is Survived By Her Son And Daughter-In-Law, Rev. Tony And Theresa Phipps Of Monterey; Grandchildren, Anita (Kim) Delape Of Monterey, Jonathan Reed Of Monterey, Melanee (Albert) Welch Of Lebanon, Kendra Benson Of Cookeville, Erin (Jerry) Sherrill Of Baxter; 15 Great Grandchildren; And 2 Great Great Grandchildren. In Addition To Her Parents, She Was Preceded In Death By Her Husband, William Edgar Phipps; Daughter And Son-In-Law, Barbara And Travis Reed; Sisters, Allie Phipps, Gracie Smith, Maudie Smith, Mertie McCowan, Jeanie Vaughn; And Brothers, Bailey, Boyd, Clayton And Bill McCowan. The Family Will Receive Friends At Goff Funeral Home On Thursday, February 13, 2020, From 5:00 PM Until 8:00 PM.

Memorial services for Myra Colleen Cook, age 72, of Granville, will be held Saturday February 15 at 1 p.m. at Granville United Methodist Church. Chad Argo will officiate. Myra passed away Saturday February 8, 2020 at her home. Her family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time.

A Memorial Service for Tony Martin Jellinich, 78 of Sparta, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2020, at the Sparta Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. His spiritual brother, Ron Cabral, will be the speaker at his memorial service. Everyone is welcome to attend. He passed away on Friday, February 7, 2020, peacefully in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his loved ones. Tony loved fishing, hunting, farming, working in his garden, and sharing the fruits of his labor with others. Even though Matilta was mean, he loved his cow. He was an active member of the congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He is preceded in death by his Parents, Tony and Florence Jellinich; Brother, Richard; Son, Richard; and Great-Grandson, Blake. Survivors include: Wife of 58 years- Violette; Children- Daughter-in-Law, Connie, Karla (Scott), Tonya (Steve), Coriena (Ted), Jody (Derick), and Joe; 15 Grandchildren, 27 Great-Grandchildren, 3 Brothers, and 1 Sister.

A graveside service for Edward Porter Dodson, 84, of Sparta, will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at 2 pm at Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery with Brent Tevebaugh officiating. He passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at NHC of Sparta, TN. He was born in McMinnville, TN on September 08, 1935 to the late Robert and Allene Rogers Dodson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his; Wife: Alice Marie Dodson. Survivors include: Sons- Dale Dodson (Debra) and Chad Dodson (Lisa) all of Sparta, Brother- Wilburn Dodson of Sparta, TN.

Funeral services for Bobby Joe Wiley, age 81 of Cookeville, will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Whitson Funeral Home with Bro. Stan Wilson and Bro. Dow Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Smyrna Cemetery. He was born September 12, 1938 in Jackson County, Tennessee to the late Clarence and Sarah Lou (Mayberry) Wiley. Bobby departed this life to rejoin the love of his life Ilse in heaven on February 10, 2020. He is survived by sons Steve (Vicki Lee), of Toney, Alabama, David (Angel) of Hayden, Alabama; grandchildren Aaron Tyler and Haylee Nicole, both of Toney, Alabama, and Ulrich and Thatcher, both of Hayden, Alabama; brothers Elmer (Dorothy), of Houston, Texas and R.B., of Cookeville, Tennessee; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ilse; his parents, Clarence and Sarah Lou; a brother, Eunice; and sisters Beulah Wright and Bessie Allen. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020 from 4:00-9:00pm and Sunday, February 16, 2020 from 12:00Noon till time of the service at 2:00pm.
