Mr. Robert Netherton, age 53 of Cookeville, passed away Tuesday, April 7th at 8:35 p.m. at his residence. Arrangements for Mr. Netherton are incomplete.

Graveside Funeral Services For Joyce Marie Floyd Bowman, Age 70, Of Monterey, Will Be Conducted At Welch Memorial Cemetery. Dr. Jerry Huffman Will Officiate And Interment Will Follow. Ms. Bowman Was Born On January 10, 1950, In Monterey, To The Late Tommy And Susie Mae Enoch Floyd. Ms. Bowman Passed Away On Monday, April 6, 2020, At Standing Stone Care And Rehabilitation Center. Ms. Bowman Was A Homemaker. She Was A Faithful Attendant Of Monterey First Baptist Church Where She Loved Her Sunday School And Bible Training Classes. She Is Survived By, 3 Sons, Adam Kilgore Of Cookeville, Tommy Bowman Of Cookeville, Perry Bowman Of Cookeville; 2 Sisters And A Brother-In-Law, Tommie Jean Floyd Roberson And Gary Roberson Of Monterey, Lucille Reynolds Of Florida; 2 Brothers, Charles Floyd Of Nashville, Eddie Floyd Of Oregon. In Addition To Her Parents, She Was Preceded In Death By Her Infant Son, Clyde Bowman; 2 Sisters, Mary Lou Walker And Helen Stidman; 2 Brothers, Jack Floyd And Ralph Floyd. The Family Would Like To Thank Monterey Senior Citizens, All Friends For Their Support And Kindness And The Sunshine Group For Being So Kind To Joyce.

Melissa Diann Hester, 32 passed away on Monday, April 6, 2020, by an automobile accident in Cookeville. Melissa was born Sunday, June 28, 1987, in Cookeville, she was the daughter of the late Robert Leo Hester, Jr. and the late Diann Marie (Palmer) Bennett. Melissa was a beloved daughter, sister, and aunt. Melissa is survived by, 3 Brothers, Robert Leo Hester, III and Ana, Andrew David Hester and Brittany, and Matthew Chase Hester; 9 Nieces and Nephews, Nicolas, Gabriel, Jacob, Brysen, Willow, Bailea, Valentina, Bruce, and Benjamin Hester. In addition to her parents, Melissa was preceded in death by, Grandmother, Sarah Palmer; Grandfather, Robert Hester Sr, and Beloved Companion, Her dog Boo Boo. Melissa chose cremation, the family followed her wishes, and a Celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Robert “Les” Koger, 82 of Cookeville, passed away peacefully at this home on Monday, April 6th, 2020. Born on March 4th, 1938 in Fentress County, to Earl and Hallie Koger. He was the oldest son to three younger sisters and a brother. He married Velda (Roysden) Koger on August 3rd, 1963. They raised two sons, Kent and Kevin. Les was a carpenter, painter and interior decorator by trade, but all that knew him know he was truly an artist at heart. A skilled woodworker, artistic painter with natural creativity, Les was known around Cookeville for his personalized Lincoln Continental. He could be spotted on warm sunny days in the sky-blue Lincoln that he personally customized, cruising around with the love of his life. Les was an Army veteran, having served in the 7th Army in Germany in the 1950’s. He moved his family to Cookeville in 1973 to support his wife’s return to college. A devoted family man, Les always committed to doing his best for his family. He is survived by his wife, Velda, son Kevin, son Kent and daughter-in-law Lorrie and their three children, Arden, Emory and Aubry, his three sisters, Bonnie, Mildred and Carol and his brother Arvel. Les was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Lois and grandson Thomas. There will be no services at this time for Mr. Robert “Les” Koger. Private Family Graveside services will be held at Campbell Cemetery in Pall Mall.

Travis Boyd Medlin, 36, of Nashville, formerly of Cookeville, passed away at his residence on April 7, 2020. Travis graduated from CHS where he played football, baseball and wrestled. He got his Bachelor’s Degree in the Recording Industry at MTSU. He pursued his love of music as the audio engineer for, The Oak Ridge Boys, Blake Shelton, Rodney Atkins, Little Big Town and Chris Stapleton. He is survived by his parents, Steve and Kim (Eisenhour) Medlin, brother, Lucas (Ellie) Medlin, favorite nephew Walker Boyd Medlin, and his lifetime friend/like-a-brother, Kenny Kirby. He is also survived by his grandmother, Linda Seneker Eisenhour, two aunts, Pam (Leslie) Price and Jill Eisenhour. He loved his cousins Blake (Alicia) Price, Matt (Mary Katherine) Price, Morgan and Brooke Farris, uncle Eddie Farris and second cousins Evy and Teddy Price. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Carroll Eisenhour, Jess and Betty Medlin. A Private Graveside service will be held at a later date.

James Russell Sturtevant, age 73 of Cookeville, passed from this life on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at his home surrounded by family. He was born to the late Russell and Jean Sturtevant on Friday, March 7, 1947 in Stoughton, Massachusetts. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Peggy Achilles of Barre, Vermont, and mother and father in law Clifford and Helen Cobbett of Abington, Massachusetts, He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Beverly Cobbett Sturtevant, son Nicholas (Michella) Sturtevant of Murfreesboro, daughter Sheila (Ray) Carpenter-Poole of Lebanon, grandchildren Andrew Austin, Zachary Spencer, Dylan Poole, Maddie Carpenter, Asher Sturtevant, and Annabelle Poole. Brother Bob (Carol) Sturtevant of Tewksbury, Massachusetts, sister Shirley (Dave) Osborne of Reading, Massachusetts. Mr. Sturtevant graduated from Silver Lake Regional High School in 1965, and received vocational certifications as an Automotive Mechanic, an Aviation Master Mechanic, an Aeronautical Master Technician, Modern Engine Servicing, and Industrial Electrical Technology. He opened and owned Jim’s Repair Shop in Halifax Massachusetts for 19 years from 1970 to 1989. He was employed with Russell Stover as an Electrical Maintenance Tech for 12 years. He enjoyed model trains, video games, Ford Mustangs and other classic cars, horses, and working around his property. He was a dog lover who always had his pet Jack Russell Terrier named Cleo in his lap. James will be cremated at Crest Lawn Funeral Home. The family will not hold a memorial service at this time. The family wishes to thank the kind staff at Cookeville Regional Hospital, Signature Healthcare, and Avalon Hospice of Cookeville, for their devoted care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Jimmy Lynn Luna, 57 of Sparta, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2020, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born Saturday, June 9, 1962 in Joliet, Illinois, he was the son of the late WH Luna and Reba O’Dell Luna. He was preceded in death by his father, WH Luna; brothers, Jackie Keith Luna, Jerry Thomas Luna, and Jeffrey Scott Luna; and a sister, Debbie Elaine Luna. He is survived by: Wife- Linda Kay Luna of Sparta; Sons- Jeremy L. Shoemaker (Rachael) Of Crossville; Danny Ray Wilder (Lisa) of McMinnville; and David Craig Wilder Jr. of Sparta; Mother- Reba Luna of Sparta. A private graveside service will be held on Friday, April 10, 2020 at Old Zion Cemetery. The family will plan a public memorial service at a later date.

Private graveside services for Georgia Evelyn Mitchell Allen, age 89, of Cookeville will be held on Thursday at 2:00pm at the Crestlawn Memorial Cemetery. She passed away on April 6, 2020 in Putnam County. A private graveside service will be held on Thursday at 2:00pm at the Crestlawn Memorial Cemetery. She was born on November 12, 1930 to the late Robert Lee and Maggie Jewell Daniels Mitchell of Putnam County Tennessee. She was preceded in death by one sister, Wanda Jean. She was married for 61 years to the late Harold Clifford Allen, they met at the Georgia Boot Company, Cookeville. She spent most of her life as a homemaker. She loved her family and loved to cook for them. She also loved the Church. Georgia and her husband were long time members of the Church of Christ at Holladay. Georgia is survived by her two children and spouses, Patricia and Danny Hall, Randal and Cheryl Allen; three grand-children and spouses; Stacey and Josh Wells, Andrew Hall and Luke and Shawna Hall; three great-grand-daughters, Emma, Addy and Caroline Wells; brother-in-law, Charles Ray and wife Linda Allen one niece Amy Smith and husband Michael; and one nephew, David White and wife Peri.

Visitation for the Honorable Oliver James Hill, age 87, a resident of Sparta, will be held Friday April 10, 2020 from 4-7:00pm at Hunter Funeral Home following a private service at Sparta City Cemetery. He passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Life Care Center of Sparta. Judge Hill, affectionately known as “Judge” or “Pal”, was the General Sessions Judge in Sparta for 25 years. He was born December 19, 1932 in Sparta to the late Malcolm Carnes Hill, Sr. and Rebecca Lacy Hill. As an avid golfer and tennis player, Judge was a founding member of Sparta Country Club. He was also an outdoorsman, who enjoyed hiking in Scott’s Gulf or walking around his neighborhood on Story Mountain. If he was not in the woods, he was making things out of wood in his workshop at his home. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife Lauretta Rich Hill on December 15, 1995 and his brother Malcolm Carnes Hill, Jr. Surviving family members include his Son: Justin Hill and wife Tatum of Cookeville; Grandson: Oliver Grey Hill; Granddaughter: Lennon Elizabeth Hill; Sisters: Carmine Smith of California and Sarah “Sado” Pfeiffer of North Carolina; Longtime Companion: Judy McDonald and her family Steve, Kim, Elin, Layne, Makayla, Robert, Sherry, Shayna, Rett, Lyla, Gage, Seth, Kendra, and Brody. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorial services for Mrs. Freda Denise Margeson Baker better know as Denise, age 58 of Sparta. will be conducted 1:00pm Friday, April 10, 2020 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. She passed away Tuesday morning , March 24, 2020 at Generations of Spencer. Denise was born November 12, 1961 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late Willie J. Margeson, Sr. and Betty Ross Cope Margeson. She was a farmer and a sawmill worker. At home, she enjoyed taking care of her chickens but her true joy was taking care of her grandchildren. Surviving family members include her daughter Dena Hopkins and husband JohnThe family will receive friends from 11:00am until service time at Hunter Funeral Home.
