Jon Holloway, Age 61, Of Cookeville, passed Away On Sunday, June 9, 2019, At His Home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
Funeral services for Mr. Russell Eugene Cyphers, age 94, of Cookeville, will be held at 10 am. Wednesday June 12 at Dodson Chapel United Methodist Church. Rev Jackie Wheeler will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in the Dodson Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Cyphers passed away Sunday evening, June 10, 2019 at NHC of Cookeville. The family will receive friends from 4 – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home and again Wednesday from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Funeral services for Mike Jones, 63, of Gainesboro, TN, will be held at 1 P.M. on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Pharris Cemetery in the McCoinsville community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2 P.M. – 9 P.M., and Wednesday from 11 A.M. until time of services. He passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born January 17, 1956, in Gainesboro, TN, to the late James E. “J.J.” Jones and Elise Trisdale Jones. On January 14, 1978, he was married to Patricia Pigg Jones, who survives. He worked as an electrician and bio-med tech at Cookeville Regional Medical Center, and retired after 37 years of service
there. He was a member of the Dudneys Hill Church of Christ.
Funeral Service for Johnnie Defoy Collins, age 79 of Cookeville, will be held Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at 1:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with full military honors. Interment will follow in the Double Springs Cemetery. He passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at Erlanger Baroness Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Johnnie was born Tuesday, July 4, 1939, in Livingston, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Robert Collins and the late Sarah (Ledford). The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 11, 2019, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm and again on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, from 11:00 am until time of service at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.
Graveside Services for Mrs. Jean Garrett Rose, age 78 of Barboursville West Virginia, and formerly of Overton County will be conducted 1 p.m., Thursday, June 13, 2019 from the Netherland Cemetery. The family will welcome friends at the time of services. Jean passed from this life on Sunday morning, June 9, 2019 at the Inn at Wyngate. She was born February 17, 1941 in Overton County, Tennessee to the late Jim Harris & Myrtle Williams Garrett. She is the last surviving child of seven children.
Funeral services for William Robert Brewer, age 94 of Franklin, formerly of Van Buren County, will be conducted 1:00pm Thursday, June 13, 2019 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home, Sparta Tennessee. Interment with full military honors by the Veterans’ Honor Guard will follow in Thomas Springs Cemetery, Winesap, TN. The family will receive friends from 11:00am until service time Thursday at Hunter Funeral Home. He was born in Cumberland County on May 25, 1925. A World War II veteran, William served with the Thunderbirds of the 179th Infantry Regiment during the Italian campaign. He fought in ground combat throughout Africa, France, and Italy. He was captured by German troops and forced to march 11 days before escaping and reuniting with American troops. He received the Purple Heart for wounds sustained while fighting in France during active combat. His battle scars serve as testament to a commitment of love for country and sacrifice, the same principles evident to all who knew him throughout his life. William was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons: Jason, Noah, and Joshua Brewer, George and William Shinn, and Austin Squires. Funeral services for Mrs. Eva Jean Norris, age 84 of Livingston, will be conducted on Thursday, June 13th at 2 PM from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. Bro. Roger Walker will officiate. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery at Hardy’s Chapel Road. The family will welcome friends on Wednesday evening from 5 to 9 PM. Mrs. Norris passed from this life on Monday morning, June 10, 2019, from the Overton County Health and Rehab Center. She was born in Overton County on January 16, 1935, to the late Clyde and Velma Staggs Holman. She loved to be around her kids, grand-kids, and great grand-kids. She also loved to listen to gospel and country music.
Memorial service for Ms. Phyllis Nadean Evans, age 60 of Doyle, will be conducted 6:00pm Thursday, June 13, 2019 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. The Evans family has entrusted Hunter Funeral Home with her cremation. Phyllis passed away Monday, June 10, 2019 at her residence. Phyllis was born February 23, 1959 in Sparta, to Norma Jean Nash and the late James Williams “J.W.” Evans. She was a Wal-Mart associate and a former longtime seamstress at Casual Apparel. She loved to talk to people and had a love and fondness for animals. Phyllis was a charter member of New Life Ministries Church. Survivors include her mother Jean Sturgill and husband James of Illinois; Sister: Theresa Rutherford and husband Anthony of Sparta; Niece: Cherri Smith and husband Jeff of Sparta; Great-nieces: Alexis Smith of Columbia and Sarah Smith of Sparta; Great-nephews: Riley Smith and Tucker Smith.
Celebration of Life for James (Jim) Harold Moore, 74 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, June 13, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hampton’s Crossroads Baptist Church with Pastor Maston Jackson officiating. Inurnment will be on Friday, June 14 at Cookeville City Cemetery at 11:00 am. Jim, born July 3, 1944 in Cookeville, loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Friend passed away into the arms of our Creator God the Father June 3, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center Hospital. He was a retired Army Veteran and was awarded 2 Purple Heart medals. He was dearly loved and will be missed. He is survived by his loving wife Donna Moore and his three daughters Sarah L Moore of Texas. Kathrine Harris and her husband Randy Harris and Rebekah Wilson and her husband Robert Wilson. Eight grand children Sasha Moore, Tyler Cross and his wife Katrina Cross, Ashley Reynolds, Levi Colwell and his wife Elaina Colwell, Stephen Real and his fiance Jade Tripp, Michael Harris, Mary Harris and eight great grandchildren Mackenzie Reynolds, Bobby Lee Reynolds, Destiny Reynolds, Paisley Reynolds, Aden Colwell, Harmony Cross, Atticus Real and the soon to be Miss Melanie Colwell. He and his family attended Hamptons Crossroads Baptist Church of Cookeville for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Moore and Edith Robinson; and his brothers, Warren K Moore and Gene Moore.
