Obituaries For Tuesday, January 5

Mrs. Ruby Holman Gilliam, age 89 of Elba, Alabama, formerly of Sparta, went to be with the Lord on Friday Jan. 1, 2021. At Elba Nursing Home and Rehabilitation, Alabama. She was born Feb. 5, 1931 in White County, TN to the late Robert and Linnie England. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Hall of Elba, Al; sons, Barnett (Marie) Gilliam of Virginia Beach, VA, Tony (Trudy) Gilliam of Anniston, AL. In lieu of flowers make memorial contribution to Antioch Church of Christ at 6100 Boatman, Cookeville, TN 38506. The family has chosen a Private Graveside service for immediate family due to Covid-19.

Graveside services for Laurine Bumbalough Terry, age 84 of Sparta, will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday at the Old Union Cemetery. Bro. Frank Derrick will officiate the service. She passed away Thursday evening, December 31, 2020 at the St. Thomas Hospital in McMinnville. She was born April 16, 1936 in Sparta to the late James and Maggie Sliger Bumbalough. Mrs. Terry was retired from Wagner Corporation in Sparta. She is survived by her daughters: Debbie (Eugene) Ward, Phylene (Eddy) Stewart, and Lissa (Mike) Cloyd all of Sparta. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Bear Cove Baptist Church. Please wear mask and social distance at the church.

Graveside services for Mrs. JoAnn Winnett Lance, age 83 of Sparta, will be conducted 2:00pm Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Wally Seibers will officiate. She passed away at 5:05am on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at NHC of Sparta. JoAnn was born November 1, 1937 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late Archie Newt & Dovie Lee Davis Winnett. She was a homemaker as well as a babysitter. She devoted her time to her children and grandchildren. She loved spending time outside and in her flower garden. Survivors include her children Sandra (Jimmy) McCulley of Doyle, Christie (Wally) Seibers of Spencer, Evelyn Meredith of Sparta, Leslie (Cathy) Lance of Crossville. There will be no visitation prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Funeral services for Bobby S. Hix, 76, of the Dodson Branch community of Jackson County, TN, will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at 2 P.M. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Dodson Branch Cemetery in Jackson County, TN. He passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born April 20, 1944, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Grover Hix and Nora Irene Mabery Chasteen. On January 31, 1975, he was married to Rita Hix, who survives. He worked with sheet metal and guttering in home repair. Survivors include his Wife: Rita Hix of Cookeville, TN; 1 Daughter: Tiffany Meadows of Cookeville, TN. Bro. Ronnie Dunn will officiate at the services. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10 A.M. until time of services. Memorial donations may be made to assist with funeral expenses by contacting the funeral home.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Ina Dean England, age 87 of Livingston, will be conducted 2 pm Wednesday January 6th from Ruth’s Chapel Cemetery. Bro. Denton Hummel will officiate. Mrs. England passed from this life on Saturday night, January 2, 2021, from her residence. She was born in Overton County on February 17, 1933, to the late Floyd and Angie Conner Smith. Ina loved spending time with her family. She always enjoyed spending time with children, travelling locally, and tending to her flower garden. Ina loved listening to singing, going to church, and spending time with her dog, Harley Jo. Ina leaves behind her son Larry England and wife Marie of Cookeville; daughter Tonya Kind and husband Doug of Livingston; and special caregiver and friend Pam Buck of Rickman. The family will welcome friends at the graveside.

Funeral services with full military honors for Bishop Faye Benson, age 82, of Cookeville will be held on Thursday January 7, 2021 at 1:00pm from the Chapel of Whitson Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Benson Officiating and family and friends serving as Pallbearers. Burial will follow at the Brotherton Cemetery. Bishop Faye Benson was born in Putnam County on June 1, 1938 to the late Thurman and Emma Sweat Benson. He passed away on January 1, 2021 at his home surrounded by family. Mr. Benson was very proud of his time spent in the Navy as he served during the Vietnam era. He is survived by Wife, of 60 years, Nola Benson; 2 Sons, Michael Dewayne Benson Sr. and William Randall Benson; 1 Daughter, Pamela Michelle Dowdy. The family of Mr. Benson will receive friends at the Funeral home on Thursday from 11:00am until time of services at 1:00pm. Everyone is asked to please where a mask and practice social distancing.

Funeral services for Mr. Michael Skinner, age 43 of Livingston, Overton Co., will be held on Thursday, January 7 at 1 PM from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Campground Cemetery. Mr. Skinner passed away Friday, January 1. Michael was a delivery driver. He was a member of the Harris Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. He loved his family very much and they will greatly miss him. Survivors include his Rebecca Skinner; Son, Justin Skinner; Daughter, Gracie Skinner; and Mother, Sue Skinner. The family will welcome friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 6th starting at 2 PM until 9 PM, then on Thursday morning starting at 10 AM until the service time.

Funeral services for Mrs. Amy Green, age 47 of the Poplar Springs Community of Cookeville, will be held on Friday, January 8 at 11 AM from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Poplar Springs Cemetery. Officiating the service will be Bro. Doug Hawkins. Mrs. Green passed from this life on Monday, January 4 at the Alive Hospice in Nashville. Amy was a member of the Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her family, and her church family and friends very much. She was loved very much and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her Husband, Michael Green; and Mother, Glenda Gamble. Family will welcome friends at the funeral home on Thursday, January 7th starting at 4 PM until 8 PM.

Funeral Services for Mary Ellen Judd, age 88, of Cookeville will be held on Friday, January 8 at 11:00am from the Chapel of Whitson Funeral Home. Officiating at the service will be Bro. Charlie Judd and Bro. Johnny Fox. The burial will follow at the Smyrna Cemetery. Mrs. Judd passed away on January 2. She was born on April 5, 1932 in Putnam County to the late Benjamin and Lona Hayes Fields. She was a Homemaker and a longtime member of the Sycamore Church of Christ. She is survived by Sons and Daughter in-laws, Charlie (Rhonda) Judd of Seattle WA, Steven (Lorie) Judd of Cookeville; Daughters and a son in-law, Karen (Lynn) Grime of Mount Clemens, MI, And Sherry Feril of Springhill. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00am until time of services at 11:00am.

Funeral services for Mr. Joe K. Wilson, age 74 of Sparta, will be conducted 1:00 pm Friday, January 8 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with full military honors presented by the Veterans’ Honor Guard in Pinewood Cemetery. Mr. Wilson passed away on Monday, January 4 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. In addition to farming, Joe was the General Manager of O’Connor Utilities for 32 years. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served two tours in Vietnam. He travelled many miles to rodeos and races, and was an avid gun and antique trader. Joe was a man of strong faith in Jesus and a proud member of the Oak Grove Church of Christ. Joe is survived by his sons, Chris (Kristy) Wilson of Sparta; and Todd (Jennifer) Wilson of Cleveland, TN. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until service time on Friday at Hunter Funeral Home.

A memorial service for Mrs. Connie Rockwell, age 67 of Cookeville, will be held Friday, January 15 at 6:00 pm in the Wilhite Baptist Church in Cookeville. Bro. Tim Miles will officiate. Mrs. Rockwell died Saturday January 2 at her residence. Her family will receive friends Friday, January 15 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the church.
