Obituaries For Tuesday, August 11

Dale Robert Mendenhall, 66 of the Zion Community of Jackson County died Monday, August 10, 2020 at his home. He was born February 6, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Harold R. and Laura Peterson Mendenhall. He was a retired quality control foreman with Ford Motor Co. of Wixon, Michigan. He was a co-founder of the Michigan Chevelle Club, owning a 1965 ChevelleSS himself. After retiring and moving to Tennessee, he was a reserve deputy with Jackson County Sheriff Department and a volunteer fireman with the Dodson Branch Fire Department. He enjoyed car racing, hunting and was the most kind husband and father, he also cherished his many friends. Survivors include wife of almost thirty years (Married August 25, 1990), Donna Bowsher Mendenhall, daughter Christine Burgenheim both of the Zion Community, son John H. Harwood, IV of Michigan. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 2000 Charlotte Avenue, Nashville, TN 37203. He had chosen cremation and burial will be in Michigan at a later date.

Mr. William Jerry “Bill” Saylors age 73 of Sparta, passed away Monday, August 10, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. In honor of Bill’s wishes, he will be cremated with no planned services.

Tige Brendan Casey, age 48 of Cookeville, passed away Sunday August 9, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Celebration of Life services will be planned for a later date.

Mrs. Beatrice Harvey Taylor age 80 of Monroe, Overton Co., TN went home to be with her savior on Sunday evening at her residence August 9, 2020. Mrs. Beatrice Harvey Taylor was born in Livingston, Overton Co., TN on Friday, May 24, 1940 to the late Roy and Ida Richardson Harvey. She was a member of the Free Communion Church of Christ and Beatrice was a Cosmetologist. A lady that put others before herself, and loved her family very much and she will be greatly missed. Survivors include husband: Samuel Ray Taylor; 1 Daughter: Julie Kay Brown; 2 Sons: Johnny Ray Taylor, Jason Wade Taylor. A private graveside service will be held for the family only. Bro. James Brown will be officiating. The family request that in lieu of flowers please make donations to the ALS Foundation.

Graveside services for William Clarence Colley, Jr, age 87 of Sparta, will begin at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Oaklawn Cemetery. He passed away on August 8, 2020 at the age of 87 at Uplands Village in Pleasant Hill, TN. He was born in Nashville, TN on April 19, 1933 to William Clarence Colley Jr. and Katherine Foster Colley (nee Katherine Eleanor Foster). Please consider that Covid-19 is still among us and the family would greatly appreciate the use of face masks and social distancing.

Funeral services for Josephine “Josie” Lamb Seagraves, age 75 of Sparta, will begin at 11:00AM on August 12, 2020 at Thurman Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Old Bon Air Cemetery. She was born on December 7, 1944, in Sparta, TN to the late Artest and Martha Ann Lamb. Josie was a member of Brethren In Christ Church and retired from NHC Of Sparta with 42 years as a CNA. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Seagraves.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Callie R. Bowman, age 93 of Livingston, will be conducted 10 am Thursday, August 13th, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. Bro. John Keith will officiate. Burial will be in Hoover Cemetery. Mrs. Bowman passed from this life on Monday afternoon, August 10, 2020, from Bethesda Health Care in Cookeville. Callie is survived by her sons Robert Mick and wife Rita of Cookeville and Roger Mick and wife Sheila of Baxter; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren. The family will welcome friends on Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 pm at Livingston Funeral Home.

Funeral services for William Dewey Mathis 85, of Cookeville will be Thursday, August 13 at 11 AM from the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Bro. Buddy Reeder and Bro. Steve Reeder will officiate. Mr. Mathis died Monday, August 10, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born March 11, 1935 to the late Leslie “Les” and Susie Alcorn Mathis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Louise Mathis Walker, father and mother-in-law Wiley and Elise Reeder. He was a retired truck driver with 43 years of service. He was a local driver, over the years he drove for JB Hawkins, WT Sewell, Miland, Jones Trucking, Ryder Pie and Norwalk Furniture. He enjoyed fun and having a good time, fishing and hunting. Survived by wife of 59 years (Married March 25, 1961) Sue Reeder Mathis of Cookeville, daughter and son-in-law Melissa and Radford Duke of Silver Point. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 3 to 8 PM and after 9 AM Thursday until service time at the funeral home.

Funeral services for David Harvey Crabtree, age 78 of Cookeville, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday August 13 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Thursday from 9 a.m. until service time. Due to COVID-19 precautions, social distance measures will be observed. David passed away suddenly Sunday evening August 9, 2020 at his home.

Funeral Services for Iva Edna Dobson,91 of Sparta, will be Thursday, August 13, 2020 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home at 2 P.M. with Rev. Steve Scaggs officiating, with burial to follow at Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Dobson passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2020 in Sparta. Edna loved cooking, and everyone enjoyed her cooking and sweet tea. She was a member of Bear Cove Baptist Church since she moved to Sparta, in 1969. She is survived by her sons, Crosby and Kenny along with multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Thursday at the funeral home from 11 A.M. till 2 P.M.

Funeral Services for Joshua Austin Rowan, age 22 formally of Cookeville, will be Friday, August 14, 2020 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home at 2 P.M. with burial to follow at Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Rowan passed away Monday, August 10, 2020 at his home in Cookeville, TN. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 14, 2020 from 11 A.M. till 2 P.M.

A Memorial Service for Rosie Jean Edwards, 73 of Sparta, will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Steve Qualls officiating. She passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2020, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born Saturday, May 31, 1947 in Jamestown, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Bennie and Lillie Cobb Epperson. She was a founding member of Christ Point Church. She was preceded in death by her Father, Bennie Epperson, Mother, Lillie (Cobb) Epperson, Sisters, Anna Smith and Judy Eitel, and Brother-in-Law, Billy Vance. Survivors include Husband Byron Edwards; Children Tonya Perry (Lance Attanasio), Byron Edwards Jr. (Sharon), and Lily Loughman (Steve). The family will welcome friends on Saturday from 11:00 AM until time of the service at the funeral home.

A Celebration Of Life for William “Bill” James Sevier, Age 71 of Cumberland Cove Community, On Saturday August 29, 2020 At The Home Of Bill And Linda In Cumberland Cove From 5 PM To 7 PM. he passed On To Heavenly Glory On Monday August 3, 2020. Mr. Sevier, Was Born On January 19, 1949 In Salisbury, Maryland, To The Late George Franklin And Gwendolyn Jackson Sevier. Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, And Friend Is Survived By: His Wife Linda Of 49 Years. Sons Brian (Dani), Kevin (Nikki), Greg (Rachelle). Bill’s Loves Were Hunting, Fishing, Civil War history, Deer And Bird Watching, And Chatting With His Buddy Bobby. Bill And Linda Served As Missionaries In Jamaica Which Was A Springboard To Serving The Lord For His Entire Life. He Led Numerous Bible Studies, Men’s Groups, Leader Of Men’s Ministries And Was An Ordained Minister. He Dedicated His Professional Life To The Education Of Children In Salisbury, Maryland And Broward County, FL For Over 35 Years.
