Mrs. Opal Asberry Tucker, age 93 of Monterey, passed away Monday, January 17, 2022, at her home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Mrs. Wylma Norman, age 67 of Cookeville, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Funeral services for Avery Rena Cornelius, the one-year-old daughter of Trinity and Jacob Cornelius of Sparta, will be held Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at the Pentecostals Church of Sparta. Burial will follow in Taylor’s Providence Cemetery. Avery passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022. Avery was born December 18, 2020, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Avery was sassy and in charge from the time she entered the world. She was the center of attention for her large family. The family will receive friends Tuesday, after 1:00 p.m., at the church.

Funeral services and Order of the Eastern Star services for Mrs. Berta Jean (King) Murphy, age 78 of Monterey, will be held Tuesday, January 18, at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Phillips Cemetery in the Anderson Community. Mrs. Murphy passed away Friday, January 14, 2022, At Standing Stone Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Tuesday, August 3, 1943, in Monterey, the daughter of the late John and Mae Cooper King. Mrs. Murphy worked with Hooks Drug Store and Indiana Glass Outlet Store. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 25 Years in Indiana. She served as Worthy Matron three times, Grand Page at Grand Chapter, and District Deputy for District #14 O.E.S. She was a member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority and Union Grove Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Johnny (Lesa) Murphy Of Harriman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Murphy Jr. The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m.

Funeral se rvices for Mr. Clifford, H. Wright, age 74 of Livingston, will be held Tuesday, January 18, at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Wright Family Cemetery in Fentress County. Military Honors will be provided at the graveside by the Overton County Veteran Honor Guard. Mr. Wright passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022, at his residence. He was born July 19, 1947, in Fentress County, the son of the late Leeman and Delsie Warden Wright. He was of the Baptist faith, a member of the Disabled American Veterans Byrdstown, and a lifetime member of VFW Post 4188 Tullahoma. Clifford was proud of his military services as a Vietnam Veteran, serving from 1966-1968. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and woodworking. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Sue Wright of Livingston; daughter Deborah Wright Higgins of Cookeville; son Dennis (Rita) Wright of Hilham. The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of services at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Clifford requested donations be made to Disabled American Veterans Byrdstown.

Funeral services for Mr. Jack Stafford, age 82 of Gainesboro, will be held Wednesday, January 19, at 2:00 p.m., at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pharris Cemetery in the McCoinsville community. Mr. Stafford passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born October 30, 1939, in Gainesboro, the son of the late Sam Stafford and Hallie Biggs Stafford. He was a construction worker. Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Henley of Cookeville; two sins, Jackie Stafford and Joseph Stafford, both of Gainesboro. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dora V. Stafford. The family will receive friends, Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
Funeral services for Mr. Jerry F. Short, age 75 of Celina, will be held Thursday, January 20, at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of Hall Funeral Home of Celina, with a Masonic Service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Turkeytown Cemetery. Mr. Short passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022, at his residence. He was born Tuesday, December 31, 1946, in Hilham, the son of the late Tony Lee and Willene (Brown) Short. Jerry worked construction and was a member of the Canton Lodge 181. He also served in the United States Army. Survivors include two sons, Jerry Lee Short and Dusty Frank Short. The family will receive friends Thursday, from 12:00 p.m. until service time.
A memorial service for Mr. Donald Walter Smith, age 79 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, January 22, at 3:00 p.m., at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Mr. Smith passed away Friday, January 14, 2022, at Bethesda Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born October 15, 1942, in Dayton, the son of the late Claude Mason and Hazel (Green) Smith. Don lived most of his life in Cookeville, and graduated from Central High School and Tennessee Technological University. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force Strategic Air Command. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth (Beth) Stockton Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Eric Brown. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 1:00 p.m. until service time, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, make a contribution to a charity of your choice.

Memorial services for Mr. Michael Paul Rainey, age 51 of Bloomington Springs, will be held Saturday, January 29, at 4:00 p.m., at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Mr. Rainey passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was born May 10, 1970, in Rockledge, FL, the son of Paulette Martin Rainey and the late Larry Wilburn Rainey. He was employed by HVAC as a service tech for over 25 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Melanie Rainey of Bloomington Springs; a son, Paul Rainey of Brandon, FL; two daughters, Marissa Rainey and Mallorie Rainey, both of Bloomington Springs. The family will receive friends Saturday, January 29, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Mallorie Rainey Education Fund by contacting the funeral home.

Celebration of Life services for Mr. James Paul “Pete” Ray, Sr., age 65 of Cookeville, will be held Sunday, January 30, at 4:00 p.m., at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Mr. Ray passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born June 17, 1956, in Livingston the son of the late Sam and Bonnie (Ray) Ray. He was a retired mechanic, working on cars and tire repair. Pete enjoyed fishing, football, TV westerns and NASCAR racing. Survivors include a daughter, Tara (James) Williamson of Inman, S.C.; son, James Paul (Constance) Ray, Jr. of Murfreesboro. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vonda Roberts Ray. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 30, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
