Ms. Elsie Crawford, age 87 of Cookeville, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at her home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Mr. Issac Quay, age 75 of Cookeville, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Mrs. Melissa Benton, age 54 of Baxter, passed away Monday, November 29, 2021, at her home. Services will be held at a later date. Mrs. Benton was born Monday, December 19, 1966, in Cookeville, the daughter of Jimmy Phy and Carolyn Maynard Phy. Melissa was a loving wife, mother, grandmother great-grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt. She loved to travel everywhere and anywhere. She enjoyed spending time with her family more than anything. Survivors include her husband of 12 years, Nick Benton; two daughters, Charity (Ron) Bowie and Emily (Kyler) Davis; two sons, Dustin Bradly (Tiffany) Benton and Kevin (Megan) Benton. She was preceded in death by a son, Zachary Benton.

A graveside memorial service for Mrs. Lorene Harp, age 77 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, December 2, at 4:00 p.m., at Paran Cemetery. Mrs. Harp passed away November 18, 2021. She was born July 20, 1944, in Dayton, OH, to the late Ernest Bethel Tinch and Edith Edna Strickland. Survivors include a son, Rick Adkins; a daughter, Tammy Hoover. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnie Harp.

Graveside Celebration of Life services for Ms. Heather Nicole Hargis, age 51 of Cookeville, will be held Friday, December 3, at 12:00 p.m., at Welch Memorial Cemetery. Ms. Hargis passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at her home. She was born Sunday, November 29, 1970, In Cookeville, the daughter of the late Robert Newton “Bob” and Georgia Faye Lee “Nib” Hargis. She was a graduate of Monterey High School and Tennessee Technological University. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She attended Monterey Wesleyan Church. Survivors include aunts and uncles, Debbie and Tim Stephens, Sallie and David Wayne, Patricia and Paul Williams, Claudette Norman, Cliff Payne. The family will receive friends at Welch Memorial Cemetery on Friday.

Funeral services for Mrs. Opal Virginia Huddleston Haston, age 99 of Sparta, will be held Friday, December 3, at 1:00 p.m., from the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Mrs. Haston passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at her residence. She was born April 7, 1922, in Sparta, to the late Fred Huddleston and Parzetta Pendergrass Huddleston. After her mother passed away when she was two years old, Opal was raised by the late Gladys Huddleston. Opal was a homemaker who was always active in her community, with memberships in civic clubs throughout White County including The Eastern Star. She remained a dedicated member to these clubs well into her 90s. In addition, Opal was a long-time member of Hickory Valley Methodist Presbyterian Church. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Haston Ellis & husband Lon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Dexter Haston, Sr.; son Fred Dexter Haston, Jr. The family will receive friends Friday, after 11:00 a.m., at Hunter Funeral Home.

Graveside services for Mr. Elton Draper Stout, age 91 of Silver Point, will be held Friday, December 3, at 1:00 p.m., at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Stout passed away Monday, November 29, 2021, at his home. He was born in Jackson County on January 29, 1930, to the late F. Hargis and Velma Brown Stout. He attended elementary school in Putnam County and graduated from Baxter Seminary in 1948. He entered Tennessee Tech to major in education, but decided to join his father in farming. He was co-owner of the Smith County and Tennessee Tobacco Warehouses and served as manager of the Smith County Warehouse. Mr. Stout also coached Baxter Little League for more than 20 years, was a member of the Baxter Civitan Club, and served as a Putnam County Commissioner for more than 20 years. He attended the Silver Point Church of Christ. Mr. Stout was married to Dorothy Nell Denny in 1960. In addition to his wife of 60 years,survivors include their children and spouses, Lucinda (Russell) Moss of Cookeville, Dr. J. Bunker (Amy) Stout of Atlanta, GA, and Patrick Stout of Silver Point. Memorial contributions may be made to the CRMC Mended Hearts, Cookeville Regional Charitable Foundation (Cancer Care Fund), Happy Haven, and St. Jude’s Children Hospital.

Funeral Service for Mr. Dustin “Dusty” David Gentry, age 39 of Cookeville, will be held Friday, December 3, at 2:00 p.m., from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Gentry passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at his home. He was born Thursday, April 22, 1982, in Cookeville, the son of David Lee Gentry and Brenda Sue (Keith) Gentry. Dusty was a loving son, brother, daddy, uncle, nephew, and friend. In addition to his parents, survivors include his children, Tucker and Nyla Gentry. Visitation will be held Thursday, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and Friday, from 12:00 p.m. until time of service, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life for Ms. Sheryl Sinor-Minshew, age 62 of Livingston, will be held Saturday, December 4, at 11:00 a.m., at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Ms. Minshew passed away Monday, November 30, 2021, at her home. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until service time.

A memorial service for Mr. Alexander Carl Grebel, affectionately known as “Al” to family and friends, age 84 of Sparta, will be held Monday, December 6, at 5:30 p.m., at Christpoint Church in Sparta. Mr. Grebel passed away Friday, November 26, 2021, at his residence. He was born October 25, 1937, in Neptune, NJ, to the late Carl and Paula Grebel. He owned Al Grebel Plumbing and Heating in Sparta for over 40 years. Al was active in the community and founded the Gracemoor House in Sparta. He and his wife were original, active members of Christpoint Church, and he proudly served in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Wasp. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Grace Weeden Grebel; three sons, Alexander C. “Alex” Grebel, Jr. and wife, Kim, Steven Michael Grebel and Richard Alan Grebel. There is no planned visitation prior to the service.
