Funeral services for Mr. Lester Eugene Cunningham, age 74 of Sparta, will be held Saturday, October 8, at 11:00 a.m., at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Bohannon Cemetery in Monterey. Mr. Cunningham passed away Monday, October 3, 2022, at Alive Hospice in Nashville. He was the owner of C & C Plastics and a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Barbara Cunningham. Visitation will be held Friday until 8:00 p.m.
A Celebration of Life service for Ms. Mary Joann Thompson, age 86 of Chattanooga and formerly of Sparta, will be held Saturday, October 8, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., at Hunter Funeral Home in Sparta. Ms. Thompson passed away August 22, 2022. She was the former owner of Joann’s Diner on East Bockman Way in Sparta and a cook for the White County Jail. She was voted Miss Senior White County in the late 1990’s. Survivors include seven children, Bridgett (Chris) Miranda, Cody Thompson, Sharon Thompson, Vicky Thompson, Linda Thompson, David Thompson, and Ruby (Kenny) Patel.
Graveside services for Mr. Joel Steven “Steve” Blanton, age 54 of Sparta, will be held Saturday, October 8, at 2:00 p.m., at Highland Cemetery. Mr. Blanton passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2022. He was a veteran of the National Guard and a former restaurant manager. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Gail and Buford Dial of Sparta; his fiancé, Cindy Gardner. There will be no formal visitation prior to the service.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary M. Jones, age 78 of the Willow Grove community, will be held Saturday, October 8, in the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Overton County Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Jones passed away Sunday, October 2, 2022, at her home. Survivors include her husband, Luther Jones of the Willow Grove community; a son, Jay (Lisa) of Mt. Juliet; a daughter, Justine (Robin) Jennings of Alexandria, IN. Visitation will be held Saturday, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
Funeral services for Mr. Danny Fox, age 75 of Cookeville, will be held Sunday, October 9, at 1:00 p.m., at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Smith Chapel Cemetery. Mr. passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at his home. Visitation will be held Saturday, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and Sunday, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

Burial will follow in Overton County Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Denson passed away Monday, October 3, 2022, at her home. She was born November 25, 1935, at her home in Overton County, the daughter of the late Ester and Grace Brown Nivens. Mary Lou enjoyed her work as a hairdresser where she always loved seeing all of her customers. Survivors include her sister, Linda Jolley of Livingston; a brother, Billy (Brenda) Nivens of Anderson, IN. Visitation will be held Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Funeral services for Mrs. Joyce Evelyn Carroll, age 85 of Sparta, will be held Sunday, October 9, at 2:00 p.m., at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. Mrs. Carroll passed away Monday, October 3, 2022, at her home. She was a wonderful seamstress and worked at East Sparta City School cafeteria. Survivors include her husband, George Carroll of Sparta; two daughters, Renee Rojas of Madison, AL, and Rechel (Chris) McManus of Sparta; a son, Robert (Kathleen) Carroll of Dearborn, MO. Visitation will be held Sunday, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
Funeral services for Mr. Clyde D. Parris, age 89 of Sparta and formerly of Doyle, will be held Sunday, October 9, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Old Zion Cemetery. Mr. Parris passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at Life Care Center of Sparta. Clyde was a cattle farmer and was known from Louisiana to Canada for his knowledge and expertise in raising registered Angus cattle. Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Mildred Sorrell Parris; two daughters, Babetta (Jerry) Scott and Chris (Jerry) Barlow. Visitation will be held Sunday, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
A Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Janie Mae Brown, age 84 of Cookeville, will be held Sunday, October 9, at 3:00 p.m., at Hope Church (Trinity Assembly) in Cookeville. Mrs. Brown passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at her home. She was born Thursday, February 17, 1938, in Cookeville, the daughter of the late Jeff Davis and Minnie Norris Arnold. Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Michael Brown; a son, Ron (Carol) Smith of Cookeville; a daughter, Sherri (Richard) Smith of Cookeville. Visitation will be held Sunday, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Mr. Huddelston passed away Saturday, October 1, 2022, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Bill proudly served in the United States Air Force and Army National Guard. He was stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam war. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Sherrie (Roberts) Huddleston; four daughters, Sabrina Hurd, Samantha Britain, Scearia Monroe, and Summer Huddleston. Visitation will be held Sunday, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

Mrs. Hickey passed away Thursday, October 6, 2022, at her residence. She was born August 16, 1940, in Flag Pond, TN, the daughter of the late Erne and Mafrie Magadalene Hensley Rice. Survivors include two sons, James W. “Bill” (Linda) Hickey, Jr. and Timothy Lee (Melissa) Hickey. Visitation will be held Monday, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Funeral services for Mr. Harold Miller, age 80 of the Hanging Limb community, will be held Monday, October 10, at 2:00 p.m., at Lakeview Baptist Church. Burial will follow in George M. Phillips Cemetery. Mr. Miller passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at his home. He was born Friday, May 8, 1942, in Wilder, the son of the late William Earnest and Lora Mae Hall Miller. Mr. Miller was a mechanic and factory worker, and attended Lakeview Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Phyllis Matthews Miller of Hanging Limb; three daughters, Carla (Ken) Gill of Coatesville, IN, Lisa Sells of Monterey, and Cynthia Taylor of Cookeville; a son, Billy (Tonia) Sells of Rickman. Visitation will be held Sunday, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Goff Funeral Home, and Monday, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at Lakeview Baptist Church.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lola Mae Gilreath Conant, age 88 of the Bon Air community, will be held Tuesday, October 11, at 1:00 p.m., in the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Carter Cemetery. Mrs. Conant passed away Thursday, October 6, 2022, at her residence. She was born March 6, 1934, in Cookeville, the daughter of the late William Molton and Evelena Carter Gilreath. She was a retired garment factory supervisor after beginning her career as a seamstress. Survivors include a son, David Keith (Marilyn) Conant. Visitation will be held Tuesday, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Funeral services for Mr. Jerry Willard Jackson, age 70 of Bloomington Springs, will be held Tuesday, October 11, at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home. The family has chosen cremation after the service. Mr. Jackson passed away Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born July 22, 1952, in Putnam County, the son of the late Jesse Willard and Geraldine (Rodgers) Jackson. Jerry worked for the Fleet guard company. Survivors include two sons, Jeremy Jackson and Beau Gambrell, both of Bloomington Springs. Visitation will be held Monday after 4:00 p.m., and Tuesday, from 7:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
A Celebration of Life service for Mr. Gary Ogletree, age 65 of Mt. Juliet and a native of Livingston, will be held Thursday, October 13, at 4:00 p.m., at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Mr. Ogletree passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2022. He was born April 3, 1957, in Livingston, the son of Geneva Garrett Ogletree and the late William D. Ogletree. Gary graduated Putnam County High School and Tennessee Technological University. He retired from the TN Department of Transportation (TDOT) with 40 years of service. In addition to his mother, survivors include his companion, Freida Begarly; a son, Ryan (Jennifer) Ogletree. Visitation will be held Thursday, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Ms. Dunham passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born August 6, 1958, in Ann Arbor, MI, the daughter of the late Earl and Betty Bowden Foster. Survivors include a son, Elwin Cody Thompson of Baxter; her life partner, Rickey Tindle of Doyle. Visitation will be held Saturday, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
A Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Iris Faye Landers Jernigan, age 75 of Silver Point, will be held Saturday, October 22, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., at Pleasant Grove Fellowship. Mrs. Jernigan passed away Monday, October 3, 2022. She was born November 19, 1946 in Saginaw, MI. She spent her lifetime as an adoring wife, devoted mother and grandmother. Survivors include her husband, of 58 years, Billy Ray Jernigan of Silver Point; five daughters Jodi (Jimmy) Hesson of Sparta, Billie Jo (Robert) Hieatt-Smith of Baxter, Teri Dial, Marti LaBrie-Ferguson, and Jeannie (Mike) Ross.
Memorial services for Mr. Mark Kriebel, age 67 of Granville, will be held Thursday, October 27, at 6:00 p.m., at Engrafted Word Church in Cookeville. Mr. Kriebel passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at his residence. He worked as a pyrotechnician and was a member of the Engrafted Word Church. He was retired from the Nameless Volunteer Fire Department, and a founding member of the Jackson County Fire Department. Survivors include his wife, Shelia Kriebel of Granville; two sons, Jason Kibby of Lafayette, GA, and Job (Brandi) Kriebel of Cookeville; a daughter, Rayn (Richard) Galloway of Granville. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 27, from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., at the church. The family has chosen cremation.
