Mrs. Jo Nelda Stamps, 88 of Cookeville died Thursday October 22, 2020 at 7:50 am in Signature Healthcare of Putnam County in Algood. Arrangements are incomplete.

Graveside Service for Jo Ann Stockton, age 83 of Cookeville, will be held Friday, October 23, 2020, at Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with Bro. Kelly Stockton officiating. Interment will follow the service in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Stockton passed from this life on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, in Mt. Juliet. Jo Ann was born Monday, December 14, 1936, in Carthage, and she was the daughter of the late Timmon Roark and the late Dee Pauline (Nivens) Green.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Gladys M. Carter, age 96 of Livingston, will be conducted 11 am Saturday, October 24th, from Bethel Cemetery. Mrs. Carter passed from this life on Sunday morning, October 18, 2020, from Celina Health and Rehab. She was born in Michigan on May 30, 1924, to the late Samuel Geeting. Gladys loved spending time with her family, working on puzzles, and crocheting. Gladys leaved behind her daughters Rachel Vaughn of Cookeville, Diane Carter of Jackson, Michigan, and Margaret Meglich of Ringgold, Georgia; son Nick Carter of Gainesboro. Gladys was a loving wife, mother, grandma, great grandma, sister, and Christian friend to all. She enjoyed being at home, working in her garden, working with her flowers, working with Cleo on their farm, and talking to everyone she met about Jesus. She enjoyed sitting on her porch with Cleo, family, and friends just fellowshipping. Gladys work at the Monterey Shirt Factory for many, many years before moving to the Shirt Factory in Rickman. After the factories closed she worked at the grocery store in Rickman on old 42 for several years which she enjoyed preparing meals, meeting, and talking to everyone. After her retirement from the grocery store she was a full time loving wife, mother, and granny. The family will welcome friends at the graveside.

Funeral services for Jose Lopez, age 61 of Cookeville and formerly of Guatemala, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday October 24 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time. Jose passed away Thursday October 15, 2020 at his residence.

Graveside Memorial Services For Jimmy Paul Tucker, Age 72, Of Macon, Georgia, Will Be Conducted On Saturday, October 24, 2020, At 1:00 PM At The Welch Memorial Cemetery. Rev. David Cobb Will Officiate With Inurnment To Follow With Full Military Honors Provided By The Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Tucker Was Born On July 18, 1947, In Tucker Ridge, Tennessee, To Opal Asberry Tucker Of Monterey, Tennessee, And The Late Thurman Tucker. Mr. Tucker Passed Away On Wednesday, July 8, 2020. Mr. Tucker Was A 1967 Graduate Of Marion County High School. He Was Drafted Into The Army In 1968 And Served The Majority Of His Time In Germany Instead Of Being Sent To Vietnam Where Many Of His School Friends Were. When He Returned From The Military, He Joined His Dad Working In Highway Construction, Eventually Becoming A Master Blaster And Heavy Equipment Operator. The Family Will Receive Friends At Welch Memorial Cemetery On Saturday, October 24, 2020, For Graveside Memorial Services.

Graveside Services for Mr. Billy Ralph Hancock, age 68 of Monroe, will be conducted 2 pm Saturday, October 24th, from Robbins Cemetery at Conatser Lane. Bro. Paul Stringer will officiate. Mr. Hancock passed from this life on Monday morning, October 19, 2020, from Livingston Regional Hospital. He was born in Overton County on March 2, 1952, to the late Ward Aaron and Maudie Young Hancock. Billy loved riding four wheelers, going fishing, and gardening. Billy leaves behind his loving wife Betty Jo Hancock; son Jason Hancock; daughter Brandy Hancock. Memorial donations may be made in honor of Mr. Hancock to the Waypoint United Pentecostal Church. The family will welcome friends at the graveside.

Celebration Of Life Services For Joanna Holloway, Age 86, Of Monterey, Tennessee, Will Be Conducted On Saturday, October 24, 2020, At 3:00 PM From The Chapel Of Goff Funeral Home. Bro. Seth Price And Rev. Tony Barnett Will Officiate. Ms. Holloway Was Born On January 28, 1934, In Allred, Tennessee, To The Late Jonathan And Ova Neely Allred. Ms. Holloway Passed Away On Friday, October 16, 2020, At Standing Stone Care And Rehabilitation Center. Ms. Holloway Retired From Russell Stover Candies. She Was A Member Of Monterey Free Will Baptist Church. She Attended Baxter Seminary 5th Through 8th Grades, Graduated From Monterey High School And Obtained Her Business Degree From Virginia Intermont In Bristol, Tennessee, And Virginia, With The School Being On The State Line Of Both States. She Played On The Tennis Team For VI And Until Recently Loved Watching Tennis Matches On TV. In The Early Years After Her Marriage, She Was A Homemaker And Bookkeeper For The Holly Jon Coal Company, Which She And Her Husband Owned. She Loved All Her Family Very Much And Loved Going To Family Reunions And Seeing All Her Relatives. She Was Faithful To Her Church And Enjoyed Going Out To Eat With The Senior Group. She Was Competitive At Card Games And Especially Loved Bridge. She Had Many Friends Who Were Very Dear To Her. She Is Survived By, 1 Daughter And Son-In-Law, Holly And George Hall Of Monterey, TN; 1 Son And Daughter-In-Law, Sam And Amanda Holloway Of Monterey. The Family Will Receive Friends At Goff Funeral Home On Saturday, October 24, 2020, From 1:00 PM Until Time Of Services At 3:00 PM.

Funeral Service for Joyce “Willene” Phy, 88, of Cookeville, will be held Sunday, October 25, 2020, at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. James Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in the Paran Cemetery. Mrs. Phy passed from this life on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at her home surrounded by her family. Willene was a member of the Smyrna Church of Christ for many years and was a wonderful Christian woman. She was loved by all that knew her and she will be greatly missed. Willene is survived by, 3 Children, Paul “Doug”las Phy, Mark Anthony Phy, and Amy Michelle Hargis. Visitation with the family will be held Sunday, October 25, 2020, from 10:00, am until time of service at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Geraldine Waller Steakley Billingsley, age 87 of Cookeville, will be at 3 p.m Sunday October 25 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Gary Farris will officiate. Interment will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Mrs. Billingsley passed away Wednesday October 21, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 p.m until service time.. Due to COVID-19 precautions social distancing and face masks are encouraged.

Funeral services for James “Lester” Sparks, age 78, of Cookeville, will be held Tuesday, October 27th at 1:00 p.m. at the Willow Avenue Church of Christ with James Allen Sparks, Kenneth Stone, John Sparks, and Robert Sparks officiating. Interment will immediately follow at O’Connor Cemetery in Sparta. Mr. Sparks passed away on October 18, 2020 of complications from a long battle with cancer. Lester was born in Sparta on September 28, 1942 to the late Charlie Uvalda and Illa Dezion (Knowles) Sparks. He graduated from White County High School and earned an Electrical Engineering degree from Tennessee Technological University. Lester was married to Peggy Lou (Kinnard) Sparks on September 1, 1962; they were married 55 years when she passed. Lester retired after teaching electrical trades and electronics for 31 years at the Richmond Technical Center in Richmond, Virginia. He also served as a deacon and elder in the church of Christ for many years. Lester is survived by his son, Paul Timothy Sparks and wife, Marsha Sparks, of Baxter, and two daughters, Rachel Carrie Mayes and husband, Barry Mayes, of Goodlettsville, and Deborah Sue “Debbie” Sparks of Cookeville. His family will receive friends Monday evening, October 26th from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until service at Willow Avenue Church of Christ.

Memorial services for Randy Stafford, 55, of Gainesboro, TN, will be held on Friday, October 30, 2020, at 6 P.M. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. The family has chosen cremation, with interment in the Campground Cemetery. He passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born December 20, 1964, in Jackson County, TN, to Lyndell Katherine Richardson Stafford and the late Billy Edward Stafford. He worked as a machine operator. Survivors include 1 Son: Joshua Randall Stafford of Cookeville, TN; 2 Daughters: Lindsay Young of Gainesboro, TN, and Sarah (Jason Hines) Stafford of Bloomington Springs. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 30, 2020, from 1 P.M. until time of services. Memorial donations may be made to assist with funeral expenses by contacting the funeral home.
