Thelma Berniece (Painter) Snideman Mays, 100, of Cookeville, passed from this life, Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at Signature Healthcare of Putnam County. Thelma was born Wednesday, October 18, 1922, in Alexandria, Indiana, and she was the daughter of the late George Washington and Alice (Faulknor) Painter. Thelma was a loving daughter, sister, wife, Mom, and Granny. She was loved by all that knew her and she will be greatly missed. Thelma is survived by, Daughter, Marsha Toombs of Tennessee; Son, Rex and Nancy Snideman of Idaho; 5 Grandchildren, Don and Dorene Snideman of Montana, Teresa Filipovich of Idaho, Nicole Hinkley of Kansas, Vickie and Jimmy Livingston of Anderson, Indiana, Debi and Lance Reynolds of Tennessee; 11 Great-Grandchildren; 7 Great-Great-Grandchildren; A host of nieces, nephews, and special friends. In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by, Husband, Glen Mays, Jr.; 7 Brothers and Sisters, Paul Painter, Ruth Mittendorf, Harold Painter, Howard Painter, Catherine Mohler, Mary Cholak, and Jean McGill; Son-In-Law, Jim Toombs. Thelma chose cremation, the family followed her wishes, and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date in Fairmount, Indiana.

Funeral Services for Stanley Dwight Troutt, age 67 of Sparta, will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Johnson Chapel Free Will Baptist Church located at 972 Johnson Chapel Road, Sparta, Tennessee 38583 with Jackie Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Chapel Cemetery. He passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital in Sparta. He was born Tuesday, October 25, 1955, in Franklin, Kentucky. Stanley was the son of the late Harold Troutt and the late Dorothy Suddarth Troutt. Surviving family members include: Wife- Waylonette Troutt of Sparta; Daughter- Melissa Anne Edwards (Ricky) of Sparta; Grandchildren- Brittney Edwards, Ronnie Edwards, Nicholas Herron; Brother-in-Law- Ricky Foutch (Barbara) of Gallatin; Nieces- Brittany Foutch and her daughter, Jillian; Jessica (Opie) Justice and their children, Levi and Colten; Nephew- Ricky Foutch II (Vickie) and their children Trey and Cora. Stanley was a member of the Johnson Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. He loved his family and his church family. He was loved by all who knew him. He was a retiree from Kroger after 41 years of faithful and dedicated employment. Following his retirement, Stanley went to work as an accountant for Cumberland Pediatric Dentistry. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 16, 2023, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023

A funeral service for Lewis Apple, 93 of Cookeville, will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Presley Funeral Home. Interment will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery, Cookeville. He passed on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. Born Friday, October 11, 1929 in Granville, he was the son of the late R. Wayne Apple and Betty Carter Apple. He was the loving husband of the late Jenell Walls Apple for 57 blessed years. Lewis had a love of country, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force for a period of four years. After his service in Korea, one of his assignments was building the barracks at the Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, AZ, formerly known as Vincent Air Force Base. After his service, Lewis was a firefighter for the Yuma Proving Grounds for over 10 years until his health restricted his continued service. A sought out carpenter, especially from several museums, he restored and refinished antiques such as a surrey carriage, furniture, a Wells Fargo telegraph desk, and an antique ice box made for a store. Lewis enjoyed time spent in his wood shop. He enjoyed making wooden toys and clocks on his scroll saw. He loved to garden, and spend time with his family, especially during family gatherings at home. Surviving are daughter: Jennie Lou Apple (Douglas) Stewart of Yuma, AZ; son: Jonathan (Lyn) Apple of Cookeville; 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; Siblings: Ted Apple and Sylvia Gambrell both of Cookeville. In addition to his parents and wife, Lewis was preceded in death by siblings Joe Apple, Mae Baxter, Jane Schmidt, Carl Apple and Buford Apple. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until time of service at 2:00 PM.

A Funeral Service for James Anderson “Jimmy” Neal, 84 of Doyle, will be held at 3 PM Saturday, June 17, 2023 at the Doyle Church of Christ with R.C. Christian officiating. Interment will follow in the Jericho Cemetery in Quebeck. He passed from this life on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at his home. Jimmy was born Tuesday, September 27, 1938 in Quebeck, he was the son of the late Claude Eugene Neal and the late Betty Miller McBride Neal. Jimmy was a member of the Doyle Church of Christ. He was the warehouse manager at Spartans Shirt Factory where he was the last employee and signed his own pink slip and locked the doors for the last time. He then managed the warehouse at Suttons Shirt Factory from the day it opened until it closed. Jimmy has worked over 60 + years working in funeral homes in Van Buren, White, and Warren Counties. He loved helping others in their time of need. Jimmy was also a member of the Civil Defense of White County and a Charter Member of the White County Rescue Squad of which he was a lifetime member. Jimmy is survived by his: wife: Christine Buttrum Neal; son: Kenneth Neal and wife Brenda; daughter: Margaret Teeple and husband Dana; 5 grandchildren: Michael Neal and wife Amanda, Jeff Neal and wife Hillary, MarLea Finch, Jameson Teeple, Kristen Teeple; 4 great grandchildren: Rylee Luna, Noah Teeple, Claudia Neal, Olivia Teeple; brother: Joe Neal and wife Dianna; 5 Sisters: Kathleen Rogol, Ruby Bennett, Zelma Brandenburg, Deamie Willhite, and Leta Humphrey; Many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and a host of friends also survive. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was also preceded in death by his 3 sisters: Claudine Whitworth, Betty Jean Simmons, Lola Slatten, a infant brother Elmer Lee Neal, 2 infant sisters Sally Avo Neal and Ruth Leona Neal, and 3 infant great grandsons Joshua Cannon Neal, Elijah William Neal, and Amos Lee Neal. The family will receive friends from 10 AM – 3 PM Saturday, June 17, 2023 at the Doyle Church of Christ.In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the White County Rescue Squad or to Short Mountain Bible Camp in his memory.

A gathering of family and friends for Rafael Alvarez Leon, 77, of Cookeville, will be held from 6:00 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2023, through 12:00 PM Monday, June 19, 2023, at Presley Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 19, 2023 in St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Cookeville with Fr. David Ramirez, Celebrant. Burial will be in Cookeville City Cemetery. He passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, June 13, 2023 at home surrounded by family, following complications while battling cancer. He was born on March 6,1946 in San Jose de la Paz, Jalisco, Mexico, the son of the late José Alvarez Solis and María de Jesús León Arevalo. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Petra Angel Covarrubias; their 9 children Aurora, Beatriz, María de Jesus, Rafael 2nd, José Juan, Anastacio, Israel, Rafael 3rd, María Guadalupe (Camila); 48 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, María León and Catalina Alvarez; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by His son Rodolfo Alvarez, his parents José Alvarez Solis, María de Jesús León Arevalo, siblings José Manuel, Rosa, Vicente, Salvador and Manuel.

Funeral services For Juanita Martin, 83 of Bloomington Springs, will be held on Monday, June 19, 2023, at 1 P.M. in the chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home, with Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pharris Cemetery in the McCoinsville community. Juanita was born July 3, 1939, in Jackson County, and she passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late Albert Alton West and Clennie Pippin West. She was a clothing factory worker, a resident of Bloomington Springs, and a member of the Bloomington Springs Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband: Billy Martin; Brothers: Frank West, Billy Clyde West, Marvin Martin, and Jimmy Martin; and Sister: Annette Anderson. Survivors include her Son: Keith Martin of MI; Daughters: Sharon Flatt of Baxter, and Tammy Marlin of Antioch; Brothers: Alton Edward West of Royal Oak, MI, and Rellon Martin of Cookeville; Sisters: Lois Bilyeu of Baxter, and Peggy Lewis of Cookeville; Grandchildren: Ben Flatt, Justin Flatt, Mason Martin, and Lillie Martin; and Great Grandchildren: Travis Flatt, Brevan Flatt, Zandon Flatt, and Andrea Flatt. Visitation will be Monday from 10 A.M. until time of services. Memorial donations may be made to the Pharris Cemetery by contacting the funeral home.

She died on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at home surrounded by loved ones. Born Monday, June 5, 1950 in Bay City, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late William Ervin LeMere and the late Catherine Bowden LeMere. She was the wife of Ronald Fahrner. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Presley Funeral Home.

A Funeral service for Donald Paul Agee, 90 of Cookeville, will be at 3:00 PM on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Presley Funeral Home with Chaplain Matthew Finchum officiating. He died on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at home surrounded by his family. Born Tuesday, January 3, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of the late Williard Agee and the late Florence Gase Agee. He was a Veteran of Korea. The family will receive friends from 2:30 PM until time of service at 3:00 PM.
