Obituaries For Monday, November 23

George Gilbert Norris, age 67 of Cookeville, passed away Friday evening November 20, 2020 at Mabry Health Care and Assisted Living in Gainesboro. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Private graveside services and interment for Alice Lorene Allison, age 96 of Sparta, will be held at Pleasant View Cemetery will be Tuesday November 24. She passed away Saturday November 21, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Lorene was born August 29, 1924 in Silver Point, TN. She left home at age 16 to live with her sister in Michigan and work. There she had many jobs including working at Westinghouse during WW2, where she installed electrical wiring on PT boats for the US Navy. She married Willie Clayburn Allison in 1944. They woked in Michigan until 1956 when they returned to White County, TN and purchased a farm. They were married for 54 years and had two children Donald and Denise. Lorene worked at McCord-Winn in Cookeville for 31 years. She was a longtime member of Almyra Methodist Church in White County. Lorene had a long and happy life with family and many friends. She is survived by her son an daughter-in-law, Donald and Beth Allison and her daughter, Denise Moore.

Funeral services for Patricia Ann Richards Garrett Winn, age 61 of Monterey, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday November 24 at Horner Funeral Home. Dr. Ronnie Pierce will officiate. Interment will follow at Welch Memorial Cemetery. Patricia passed away Thursday November 19, 2020 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Her family will receive friends Tuesday from 12 noon until service time.

Graveside services for Mr. Danny McCoy Staggs, age 77 of Livingston, will be conducted 2 pm Saturday, November 28th, from the Overton County Memorial Gardens. Bro. Roger Phillips will officiate. Mr. Staggs passed from this life on Friday, November 20 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. Danny proudly served as an officer with the Livingston Police Department beginning in 1974 and as a deputy with the Overton County Sheriff’s Department until his retirement in 1994 after more than 20 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and working on automobiles. Danny leaves behind his wife of 58 years Wilma Shelton Staggs of Livingston; son Danny W. Staggs and wife Sandy of Livingston; daughter Sherlyn Maynard and husband Chris of Baxter. The family would like to give special thanks to the Overton County Ambulance Service, Livingston Police Department, Livingston Regional Hospital, Vanderbilt University Medical Center Critical Care Unit, Caris Hospice, and Speck Funeral Home for the care and compassion shown to us and our loved one. The family will welcome friends at the graveside.

A celebration of life for Dewey C McDaniel, age 81 of Cookeville, will be held at Life Church of Cookeville on Monday December 7 at the Edge at 12:00 pm. Mr. McDaniel passed away on Thursday, November 5. Dewey retired from Ford motor company in the late 90’s. He was a Mason for many years. Dewey also enjoyed hunting, fishing and anything outdoors. Dewey is survived by his wife, Mable Wihebrink McDaniel of 63 years; Daughters, Tammy (Barry) James of Union City, and Tynisha (David) Hopwood of Foley, Alabama. The family will receive friend from 11:00 am until time of service.
