Obituaries For Monday, March 16

Elisha King, age 77, of Cookeville, passed away Sunday morning March 15. Arrangements are incomplete.

Private, family graveside services for Mr. Robert Edward Dickson, age 68 of Cookeville, will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Cookeville City Cemetery. Mr. Dickson died Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center from injuries sustained in the tornado on March 3, 2020. He was born November 12, 1951 in Bristol, TN to the late Lyle Lee and Hazel Vance Dickson. Following graduation from Tennessee High School in Bristol, he served his country for four years as a member of the United States Air Force. He worked as an LPN at Bristol Medical Center before moving to Cookeville in 2000 to work at Cookeville Regional Medical Center for McKesson Corporation. He has been a member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church for many years, serving in the church’s security detail. Robert was a godly man with a happy and friendly nature. He was kind, generous and was always looking for ways to help others. He was an avid gun collector and enjoyed working in his yard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Buddy Dickson and by a sister, Brenda Smith. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Susan Dotson Dickson; daughters, Dawne (Chris) Davis of Johnson City, Stefanie (Josh) Adkins of Asheville, NC and Haley Dickson of Cookeville; grandchildren, Callie Ingram, Rylie Davis, Kaleb Miller, Jameson Adkins and Bailee Adkins; and by a sister, Betty (Leonard) Bloomer of Blountville, TN.

Funeral services for Mr. Jimmy Morris Dixon, age 77 of Rickman, will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at 11 AM from the Chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Liberty Cemetery in Overton Co., TN. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mr. Jimmy Morris Dixon was born in Battle Creek, Calhoun Co., Michigan on Monday, December 14, 1942 to the late Morris and Laura (Cantrell) Dixon. First of all Jimmy loved his Lord and Savior first. Jimmy was a Baptist preacher who preached the word of God and stood strong in his faith. His membership was held at Union Hill. He was a loving husband to his wife Margie who went on to be with the Lord before him; a loving father and grandfather to his sons and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by 2 Sons: Rocky Dixon and wife Rebecca, Jeff Dixon and wife Rachel; 1 Sister: Joyce Hargis; 4 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren; A host of family and friend also survive.Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening, March 16th starting at 5 PM until 9 PM. Officiating will be Bro. Cleston Ledbetter and Bro. Jeff Short. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers please make donations toward funeral expenses by contacting the funeral home.

Funeral services for Alta Aileen King, age 90, of Cookeville, will be Tuesday March 17 at 11 a.m. at Dyer Funeral Home. Pastor Steve Warren will officiate. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Nashville National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 9 a.m. until time of services. Mrs. King passed away Saturday morning March 14, 2020 at NHC of Cookeville. She was born April 27, 1929 in Olive Hill, KY to the late Roman and Marjorie Galford McGlone. Mrs. King was a homemaker. She attended Faith Chapel Church in Baxter. She is survived by her sons, John Newton Jr. (Betty) of Curtice, OH, Ronnie King (Carla Wilson) of Cookeville, and Roy “Butch” King (Tammy) of Cookeville; daughter, Charlotte Carol (RJ) of Louisville, KY; sister, Eidie McGlone of Oregon; grandchildren, Bridgett Shannon Sink, Tara McNatt; Joe Newton, Stephanie Witter, Shane Newton, Angela Newton, Samantha Grimm, Michael King, Amy Blair, and Kris Power; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services For Ted Lowhorn, Age 70, Of Monterey, Tennessee, Will Be Conducted On Tuesday, March 17, 2020, At 3:00 PM From The Chapel Of Goff Funeral Home. Pastor Steve Looper Will Officiate With Interment To Follow In The Sand Springs Cemetery With Full Military Honors Provided By The Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Lowhorn Was Born On October 4, 1949, In Monterey, Tennessee, To Nora Christine Tays Lowhorn And The Late Leonard Lowhorn. Mr. Lowhorn Passed Away On Saturday, March 14, 2020, At His Home. Mr. Lowhorn Was Owner/Operator Of Ted’s Lawn Service And Also Worked With Todd’s Convenience Mart. He Was An Avid Fan And Supporter Of His Grandson Jordan’s Baseball Career Always Being So Proud Of All Of His Accomplishments. He Was A United States Navy Veteran. In Addition To His Mother, He Is Survived By His Wife Of 50 Years, Joyce Whittaker Lowhorn Of Monterey, TN; Son And Daughter-In-Law, Billy Lee And Michele Lowhorn Of Monterey, TN; Grandson, Jordan Lowhorn Of Monterey, TN; 3 Sisters And Brothers-In-Law, Kay And Larry Phillips Of Watertown, TN, Debbie And Mike Ray Of Cookeville, TN, Betty And Rick Parker Of Monterey, TN; 3 Brothers And 2 Sisters-In-Law, Leonard And Brenda Kay Lowhorn Of Monterey, TN, Gary Lowhorn Of Monterey, TN, Larry And Laura Lowhorn Of Watertown, TN; 2 Sisters-In-Law, Brenda Lowhorn Of Monterey, TN, Renee Lowhorn Of Monterey, TN; And A Host Of Nieces And Nephews. In Addition To His Father, He Was Preceded In Death By An Infant Sister, Regina Lowhorn; And Brothers, Jerry “Bird” And Bobby Lowhorn. The Family Will Receive Friends At Goff Funeral Home On Monday, March 16, 2020, From 5:00 PM Until 8:00 PM.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Wilmoth Hunter, 85, of Cookeville, TN, will be held at 1 P.M. on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Pharris Cemetery in the McCoinsville community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4 P.M. – 8 P.M., Tuesday from 12 Noon – 8 P.M., and again on Wednesday from 10 A.M. until time of services. She passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at NHC Healthcare in Cookeville. She was born July 20, 1934, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Lee Stafford and Lula Cantrell Stafford. She was a housewife, and a member of the Dodson Branch Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband: James Wilmoth; and her Husband: Boone Hunter. Survivors include 4 Sons: Jimmy (Linda) Wilmoth of Bloomington Springs, TN, James Lee Wilmoth of Nashville, TN, Tony (Marilyn) Wilmoth of Cookeville, TN, and Jeff Wilmoth of Cookeville, TN; 2 Daughters: Carolyn (JD) Phillips of Cookeville, TN, and Cathy (Bobby) Wilmoth of Cookeville, TN; 4 Grandchildren: Jonathan, Jamie, Jennifer, and Lucas; and 3 Great Grandchildren. Eddie Bryant will officiate at the services.

Graveside Services for Paul Garrison, age 81 of Cookeville will be held March 28, 2020 at 2pm at Boma Cemetery. He passed from this Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born Monday, March 28, 1938 in Gainesboro, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Vestel and Annie (Ramsey) Garrison. Paul was a Machinist and retired from Clawson, Michigan. The family has chosen cremation.

Memorial services for Wayne H. Lawton, 72, of Cookeville, will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, March 28, 2020, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. The family has chosen cremation. He passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2020, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. He was born April 28, 1947, in Pawtucket, RI, to the late Albert Forrest Lawton, Sr. and Betty Mo Mitchell Lawton. On December 14, 2003, he was married to Carol Sue Dailey Lawton, who survives. He was a truck driver, and served in the U.S. Army. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his Wife: Carol Sue Dailey Lawton of Cookeville; 1 Son: Caleb Lawton of Cookeville; 2 Daughters: Christina (Edward) Laquerre and Jaclyn (Tony) McCloud, all of Cookeville, TN; 8 Grandchildren: Patrick, Eric, Dylan, Amara, Marcus, Haven, Balon, and Kayson; 6 Great Grandchildren: Gayvn, Alina, Abigail, Jaden, Logan, and Bailey; 1 Brother: Albert Lawton, Jr. of RI; 1 Sister: Janice Trottier of RI; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 28, 2020 from 9 A.M. until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project by contacting the funeral home.
