Obituaries For Monday, June 24

Earl S. Lowery (Sandy), age 60 of Sparta, passed away from this world in the early afternoon of Sunday, June 23, 2019 while sleeping at his home in Sparta. Earl was born in Royal Oak, Michigan on August 28, 1958 to the late Earl Lowery and Effie Mae Lowery. Earl was preceded in death by his father, Earl Lowery; stepfather, James E. Holland; sister, Gina Lowery Hodges. Earl is survived by his mother, Effie Mae Lowery; wife, Connie Presley; son, Dustin Lowery and wife Rachel; stepdaughter, Emily Ann Hodge; grandchildren, Callie Lowery; niece, Tashauna Burchett and husband Mike Flannery; numerous aunts and cousins also survive. The family has chosen cremation and at this time no services have been made. They will Honor Earl at the Electric Summer Musical Festival on June 28, 2019 located at the Sparta amphitheater.

Rev. Marvin Nash, Age 98, Of Fairborn, Ohio, And Formerly Of Monterey, Passed Away On Sunday, June 23, 2019, In Fairborn, Ohio. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Funeral services for Gladys Marie Eckel, age 84, of Cookeville will be held Tuesday, June 25th, 2019 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Presley Funeral Home with Randy Bybee officiating. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Presley Funeral Home. Marie passed away Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital in Sparta, Tennessee. She was born Friday, February 15, 1935 in Gainesboro, Tennessee to the late William Edgbert Bean and Cora Belle Putty Bean.

Funeral services for Emma Jean Ray, age 88 of Cookeville, will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 1:00PM from the Chapel of Whitson Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Warren officiating. Burial will follow at Cookeville City Cemetery. Mrs. Ray passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at her residence. Emma Jean Ray was born on March 18, 1931 in Cookeville to the late George Washington and Willie Estelle Robbins. She worked for the Oyster Company and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Ray also attended the Zion Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband: Troy Haskell Ray; 4 Sisters; and 3 Brothers. She is survived by two Daughters & Sons-In-Law: Darleen Roberts Bowick & Charles of Cookeville, and Sheila Phillips Eicholtz & Brad of Cookeville; 6 Grandchildren: Troy, Trent, Jason, Brent, Karissa, Derreck, and Granddaughters; 10 Great Grandsons and 3 Great Granddaughters; 1 Great-Great Grandson and 2 Great-Great Granddaughters; Also a Host of Many Nieces and Nephews. Visitation with the family will be held Tuesday evening at Whitson Funeral Home from 5:30-8:00PM and Wednesday from 11:00AM till time of service at 1:00PM.

Funeral Services for Elsie Mae Scott, 88 of Sparta, will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Doyle Crawford and Doug Benningfield officiating. Burial will follow in Linville Cemetery. She passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2019, at Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital. She was born Tuesday, May 5, 1931 in Cookeville. She was the daughter of the late Dow and Mandy LaFever Bray. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles P. Scott. Survivors include: Son- Charles P. Scott Jr.; Daughter- Shirley Robinson (Denny); Step-Grandchildren- Denny Wayne (Sheila) Robinson and Brooke Nunn (Kevin); Step-Great- Grandchildren- Rhett Robinson, Danielle Hall and husband Damien, Blake Nunn, and Rhiana Locke; Step-Great-Great-Grandchildren- Nolan Hall, Mason Hall, Scarlett Locke, and Amelia Locke; Sisters- Dean Snyder (Willie) and Shirley Irene Burdette; Brothers- Gene Bray and Bill Bray (Joyce); Special Friends- Patsy and Bob Allison; Several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will welcome friends on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, from 11am until time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Gideons International, Sparta Camp, PO Box 824, Sparta, TN 38583.

Funeral Services for Anna Mae Littrell, age 82 of Cookeville, will be held, Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Stone Seminary Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 12:00 pm until time of service at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Shirley Ann Grogan, 68, of Cookeville, will be held at 2 P.M. on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Wednesday from 12 Noon until time of services. She passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at her residence. She was born November 27, 1950, in Algood, TN, to the late Marvin Gore and Claire Brown Gore. On November 28, 1987, she was married to Bruce Grogan, who survives. She worked at Tutco, and was a member of the Stevens Street Baptist Church in Cookeville, TN.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dinah Spilman, age 93 of Cookeville will be held Friday June 28 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Spilman’s family will receive friends Friday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Spilman died Saturday evening, June 22nd at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Funeral Services for Nathan Prigmore, age 60 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, June 29, 2019, at 1:00 pm at McClellan Avenue Church of Christ located at 141 McClellan Court Cookeville, Tennessee 38501. Interment will follow in the Heritage Cemetery, Algood, Tennessee. Nathan was born Saturday, May 23, 1959, in Cookeville, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Charles Albert Prigmore and Marion Oneal (Lambertson), Prigmore. Nathan was a loving son, brother, and husband. He loved music, especially playing his guitar with his friends. The family will receive friends Saturday, June 29, 2019, from 11:00 am until time of service at McClellan Avenue Church of Christ.
