Obituaries For Friday, October 19

Robert “Bob” Lee Borden, Jr., 76 of Cookeville, and formerly of Hudson, Florida, passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Bob was born Tuesday, July 7, 1942 in Cookeville, he was the son of the late Robert Lee, Sr. and Cordy (Roberts) Borden. Bob was a loving husband, daddy, and PaPa. He was the owner of Borden Electric. Bob retired from Vanderbilt University as a power engineer. Bob is survived by: 3 Children: Sherri and Barry Bowman, Mary Michelle (Borden) and Bryan Proffitt, William and Tracy Borden; 5 Grancdhildren: Nikki and Todd Clark, Shawn Bowman, Nathan Borden, Landon Symes, and Jax Borden; Great-Grandchild: Sophia Clark; Brother: Mike Borden. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by: Wife, Sharron “Claudette” (Hood) Borden. Bob chose cremation, the family followed his wishes and a Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date.

Funeral services for Mr. Harvey Spurgeon (Spud) Bouton, age 96, of Cookeville, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday October 20 at Dyer Funeral Home. Jerome Frandle, Loren Spellman, and Bobby Sylvia will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow at Double Springs Cemetery. Mr. Bouton passed away Tuesday October 16, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 – 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of services.

Graveside services for Anna Mildred Williams, age 95 of Cookeville, will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Garden of Memory Cemetery in McMinnville. Burial will follow in Garden of Memory Cemetery. Bro. Ronald Strong will officiate. Anna was born on April 27, 1923 to the late Julian and Rochie (Ramsey) Wright. She worked for many years as a short order cook. She is survived by Children & Spouses: Patricia Williams & Companion Gary Cochran-OH, Carolyn Williams Payne-Magnolia, TX, Jerry Williams-Cookeville, J.C. (Linda) Williams- Washington, Larry (Betty) Williams- Bloomfield, VT, Raymond Williams; BROTHERS & Sisters-In-Law: Jessie (Becky) Wright- Jackson County, Thomas (Wilma) Helen-Lebanon; SISTERS: Shirley Smith-Washington, Glinda Greene-Cookeville, and Janice Wright- Cookeville; 11 Grandchildren, Host of Great Grandchildren, Host of Nieces and Nephews.

A Celebration of Life service for Vurlon Regina Thornton Denning, 67 of Sparta, will be held at 1-2pm on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Christian Life First Assembly of God located on Spring Street in Sparta. Vurlon passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at NHC Healthcare of Sparta. She was born Saturday, August 25, 1951 in Faison , North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Carlton and Vurlon Sutton Thornton . She is survived by her husband, Danny Denning of Sparta; son, Jason Dantzler of North Carolina; daughter, Ginger Boyette of North Carolina; 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; step-son, Jerry Andrew Denning of North Carolina; and 2 step-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. David Earl Allen, 60, of Cookeville, will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the Dodson Branch Cemetery in Jackson County. He passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville. He was born November 29, 1957, in Dayton, OH, to the late William Earl Allen and Joyce Ann Barr. He was a carpenter by trade. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Daughter: Misty Jean Allen; and 1 Brother: Timothy J. Allen. Survivors include 1 Daughter: Christin Allen of Baxter; 3 Grandchildren: Ashton Johnson, Alexis Watts, and Adison Watts; and 1 Brother: Johnny Allen of Gainesboro. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11 A.M. until time of services.

Funeral Services for Carmel C. Maxwell, age 83, of Baxter will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday from Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville. Burial will follow in the Mount Holly Cemetery in DeKalb County. Carmel C. Maxwell was born on May 5, 1935 in Putnam County to the late Fowler Owens Maxwell and Della Hickey Maxwell. He passed away on October 18, 2018 at his home in Baxter surrounded by family. Mr. Maxwell was a factory worker and Farmer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by; step mother, Versa Maxwell and half-sister Charlie Mae Bowman. His family includes, wife of 56 years, Helen Maxwell of Baxter, 3 sons and daughter in-laws, Tommy and tammy Maxwell of North Carolina, Russell and Michaela Maxwell of Baxter and Joey Maxwell of Baxter, one brother, Kenneth Maxwell of Baxter, 1 sister, Anna Ruth Barr of Colorado. He also has 8 grandchildren, Chelsea York, Dalton Maxwell, Jaxon Maxwell, Teaha Martin, April Martin, C.J. Maxwell, Tyler Maxwell and Alyssa Tiller. 9 great grandchildren, Riley York, Chase Martin, Tiara Martin, Alleigh Martin, Remington Martin, Johnathan Martin, Timothy Martin, Bradin Martin and Weston Martin. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm and on Saturday from 9:00am until time of services at 2:00pm at the funeral home.

Graveside services and interment for Charlie Gladstone Robbins, age 90, of Cookeville, will be Saturday October 20 at 2pm at Overton County Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Robbins passed away Wednesday October 17, 2018 at Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville. He was born January 7, 1928 in Overton County to the late Elihu and Elva Robbins. Mr. Robbins was a Korean War veteran having served in the US Army. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Sue Bruce of Louisville; two granddaughters, Leann (Tim) Hicks of Louisville, and Mary Jo (Scott) Willocks of Maryville; two great grandchildren, Chad (Angie) Hicks, and Beth (Grayson) Wright; and three great-grandchildren, Jacob and Harper Hicks, and Peyton Wright. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Anita Matheny Robbins; and two brothers, Cross and Billy Robbins. The family will receive friends immediately following the services at the cemetery.

Graveside Services for Gladys (Jackson) Whitaker, 94 of Cookeville, will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with Bro. Clarence DeLoach officiating. Interment will follow in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Gladys passed from this life on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at Bethesda Health Care Center. Gladys was born Tuesday, April 15, 1924 in Gainesboro to the late Andrew J. and Virginia (Moss) Jackson. Gladys was a loving wife, mom, nanny, aunt, and friend. Gladys is survived by: Daughter: Brenda Huffine; Grandson: John Huffine (Susie Rogers); Host of nieces, nephews, and special friends. In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by: Husband, Walter Whitaker; 5 brothers, Joshua, Bud, Walter, Edward, and Oplis Jackson; 5 sisters, Ara Richardson, Tennie Roark, Clyde Roark, Edna Roberts, and Lera Terry. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.

Memorial services for Daniel Lee Rose, 59, of Cookeville, will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at 11 A.M. at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. The family has chosen cremation. He passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at his residence. He was born June 10, 1959, in Brunswick, Maine, to Sylvia Rose and the late Robert Rose. He was married to Holly Robertson Rose, who survives. He worked in sales at Dunham Sports, and served in the U.S. Army. Survivors include his Wife: Holly Robertson Rose of Cookeville; his Mother: Sylvia Rose of Maine; 1 Brother: Alan Rose and wife, Sandy; 2 Sisters: Linda Rose Deskins and Letha Rose Wesley and husband, Bob; Nieces and Nephews: Keath Deskins, Christie Engleman, Miranda Jacobs, Roxanne Armstrong, Co-Lee Grev, Misty Rose, Andrew Doble, Bob Wesley, Kara Robertson, Liam Robertson and Robert Mangrum; Caregivers: Jason Robertson and Charlie Williamson; and many friends.
