Obituaries For Friday, February 14

Dr. Marilyn Poteet-Langford, age 65 of Sparta, passed away this morning. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Funeral services for Fannie Miller, age 73, of the Mayland Community in Cumberland County, will be held on Saturday February 15 at 10 a.m. at Mt. Moriah Mennonite Church. Interment to follow in the Mt. Moriah Mennonite Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends Thursday 6 – 8 p.m., and again Friday from 2 – 5 p.m., 6 – 8 p.m. at the church. Mrs. Miller passed away Tuesday evening February 11, 2020 at her home.

Memorial services for Myra Colleen Cook, age 72, of Granville, will be held Saturday February 15 at 1 p.m. at Granville United Methodist Church. Chad Argo will officiate. Myra passed away Saturday February 8, 2020 at her home. Her family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time.

A Memorial Service for Tony Martin Jellinich, 78 of Sparta, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2020, at the Sparta Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. His spiritual brother, Ron Cabral, will be the speaker at his memorial service. Everyone is welcome to attend. He passed away on Friday, February 7, 2020, peacefully in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his loved ones. Tony loved fishing, hunting, farming, working in his garden, and sharing the fruits of his labor with others. Even though Matilta was mean, he loved his cow. He was an active member of the congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He is preceded in death by his Parents, Tony and Florence Jellinich; Brother, Richard; Son, Richard; and Great-Grandson, Blake. Survivors include: Wife of 58 years- Violette; Children- Daughter-in-Law, Connie, Karla (Scott), Tonya (Steve), Coriena (Ted), Jody (Derick), and Joe; 15 Grandchildren, 27 Great-Grandchildren, 3 Brothers, and 1 Sister.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Mr. Junior Dishman, age 64 of Livingston, on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 2 PM from the Chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston. He passed away from this life at Cookeville Regional Medical Center on Thursday, February 13, 2020. Mr. Clyde Dishman, Jr. was born in Gainesboro, Jackson Co., TN on Friday, August 12, 1955 to the late Clyde E. and Iva Jean (Phillips) Dishman. Junior worked for the Town of Livingston on the street department. Junior loved his family very much especially all of his grandchildren. He will be missed very much.The family will welcome friends at the funeral home on Saturday, February 15th starting at 10 AM. Officiating the service will be Bro. Ricky Dixon.

Funeral services for Samuel Morgan Vaughn Jr., age 77, of Brentwood and formerly of Cookeville, will be held Sunday February 16 at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Cookeville City Cemetery. His family will receive friends Saturday from 4 – 7 p.m. and again Sunday from 12 p.m. until time of service. Sam passed away Wednesday February 12, 2020 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Louise Litchford Sliger Graham, age 76 of Sparta, will be conducted 2:00pm Sunday, February 16, 2020 at Pistole Baptist Church with burial in Elrod Cemetery. She passed away Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Graham was born August 23, 1943 in Cookeville, Tennessee to the late Thomas Clarence & Bessie Montgomery Litchford. Her work career included sewing cushions for Custom Craft Furniture to her most notable job at First National Bank. After retiring from the bank, she worked as a receptionist for Turntable Industries and Tri-Star Realty. Betty was an active member of Pistole Baptist Church for 57 years. She taught Sunday School for over 50 years and was involved in various committees in the church, including decorating the church this past Christmas and helping prepare a meal anytime it was needed. Betty and her coworkers from the bank, known as the “Golden Girls”, got together monthly for lunch and to spend the day together. She also enjoyed being a part of a Bunco Club. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husbands Sam Sliger and Keith Graham; brothers Howard Litchford and Ernest Litchford. The family will receive friends Saturday from 4-8:00pm and after 1:00pm Sunday at the church.

Funeral services for Mrs. Faye Spivey Ragland, 89, of Gainesboro, TN, will be held at 2 P.M. on Sunday, February 16, 2020, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Union Hill – Flatt Cemetery on Shepardsville Hwy. in Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5 P.M. – 8 P.M., and again on Sunday from 11 A.M. until time of services. She passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at her residence. She was born September 7, 1930, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Otha E. Spivey and Viola Hall Spivey. She was married to the late Coy L. Ragland, who passed away February 14, 2006. She was retired from Twin Lakes Telephone, and was a member of the McCoinsville Church of Christ. She loved flowers, gardening, and animals, especially her dog, Buffy.

A graveside service for Edward Porter Dodson, 84, of Sparta, will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at 2 pm at Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery with Brent Tevebaugh officiating. He passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at NHC of Sparta, TN. He was born in McMinnville, TN on September 08, 1935 to the late Robert and Allene Rogers Dodson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his; Wife: Alice Marie Dodson. Survivors include: Sons- Dale Dodson (Debra) and Chad Dodson (Lisa) all of Sparta, Brother- Wilburn Dodson of Sparta, TN.

Funeral services for Bobby Joe Wiley, age 81 of Cookeville, will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Whitson Funeral Home with Bro. Stan Wilson and Bro. Dow Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Smyrna Cemetery. He was born September 12, 1938 in Jackson County, Tennessee to the late Clarence and Sarah Lou (Mayberry) Wiley. Bobby departed this life to rejoin the love of his life Ilse in heaven on February 10, 2020. He is survived by sons Steve (Vicki Lee), of Toney, Alabama, David (Angel) of Hayden, Alabama; grandchildren Aaron Tyler and Haylee Nicole, both of Toney, Alabama, and Ulrich and Thatcher, both of Hayden, Alabama; brothers Elmer (Dorothy), of Houston, Texas and R.B., of Cookeville, Tennessee; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ilse; his parents, Clarence and Sarah Lou; a brother, Eunice; and sisters Beulah Wright and Bessie Allen. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020 from 4:00-9:00pm and Sunday, February 16, 2020 from 12:00Noon till time of the service at 2:00pm.

Funeral services for Mr. Charles Hill Verble, age 94, of Algood, will be held Monday February 17 at 11:00 a.m. in the Algood Family Event Center. Rev. Jim Rogers will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in the Paran Cemetery. Mr. Verble passed away Thursday morning February 13, 2020. His family will receive friends Sunday from 5 – 8 p.m. and again Monday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
