Obituaries For Friday, August 13

Joseph “Jody” Allen Dexter, III, 56 of Cookeville, passed away at his home, Thursday, August 12. He was a loving son and brother. Jody loved to fish and collect Hot Wheel Cars. He loved the Lord with all of his heart. Jody chose cremation, the family followed his wishes, and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Charles “Chuck” John Nicolls, 79 of Crossville, passed away on Thursday, August 12 at his home surrounded by his family. Chuck was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was an all-around amazing person, always had a smile on his face, and never met a stranger. Chuck was loved by everyone that knew him and he will be greatly missed. Chuck chose cremation, the family followed his wishes, and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Mable Willoughby, age 74 of Cookeville, passed away Thursday morning August 12, 2021 at her home. Service arrangements will be announced at a later date.

Funeral services for Emma Jean Anderson, 87 of Silver Point, will be Saturday, August 14 at 11 AM at the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Smellage Memory Gardens in the Boma Community. Bro. Dan Huddleston will officiate. Mrs. Anderson died Wednesday, August 11 at her home. She was a member of Baxter Crossroads Church of God.Emma enjoyed working in her flowers, cooking for family, reading her Bible, visiting the sick and shut-ins. She was a retired associate with Russell Stover Candies and had worked in some of the local nursing homes. Survivors include her children, Barbara (Bob) Stewart, and Delbert Smith. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 8 PM and after 9 AM Saturday until service time at the funeral home.

Celebration of Life Services for Mrs. Carol Sue Copeland, age 78 of Cookeville, will be conducted 11 a.m., Saturday, August 14 from the Livingston First Christian Church. Bro. Scott Copeland will officiate. Mrs. Carol Sue Copeland passed from this life on Wednesday, January 19, 2021 from the Cookeville Regional Medical Center from complications of COVID pneumonia. She grew up in Livingston, Tennessee and excelled academically, was well liked and had many friends. She was a cheerleader for Livingston Academy High School. Sue and Steve married at age 19 and Sue worked to support Steve through college at Tennessee Tech University and the Veterinary School at Auburn University, all while raising their young sons. When Steve completed his education at Auburn, the family returned to the Upper Cumberland, settled in Cookeville and established Copeland Veterinary Hospital. Sue was instrumental in the success of the practice and essentially did everything including managing the front desk, keeping the books, and assisting in the treatment areas as well as the kennel. Steve has always said that he gives credit to Sue for the success of Copeland Veterinary Hospital. She is Survived by her husband, Dr. Steve Copeland D.V.M; and, sons Dr. Scott (Mona) Copeland M.D., and Steven R. Copeland all of Cookeville. The family will welcome friends at the time of services.

Funeral Services for Mr. Bobby Mitchell Dale, age 87 of Murfreesboro and formerly of Overton County, will be conducted 1 PM Saturday, August 14th, from Hilham Church of Christ. Bro. John Mabrey will officiate. Burial will be in the Hilham Cemetery. Bobby passed from this life on Thursday morning, August 12, 2021, from his residence in Murfreesboro. He was born in Overton County on September 9, 1933, to the late Ance Mitchell and Ola Mae Smith Dale. He loved his family very much. Bobby enjoyed driving race cars, watching NASCAR, playing sports, and traveling. Bobby leaves behind his loving wife Ruth Dale of Murfreesboro; daughter Michelle Lynn Poston and husband Tommy of Murfreesboro. The family will welcome friends on Saturday from 11 AM until the time of services at 1 PM at Hilham Church of Christ. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital by contacting Speck Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mr. Michael K. Ellis, age 62 of Cookeville, will be held on Saturday, August 14 at 2 PM from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston. Mr. Ellis passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 8 in Louisville, Jefferson Co., KY at the Nortons Audubon Hospital. Michael resided in Indiana and Tennessee until he entered the Army. He was retired; after working at Oreck as a parts handler. He was a huge sports fan and card collector, loved coaching, and anything sports related. Survivors include his two sons, James and Matthew Ellis. Family will welcome friends at the funeral home on Saturday, 14th starting at 12 noon with service time to follow. The family has chose cremation after the service.

Funeral Services for Mr. Charles Wayne England, age 65 of Algood, will be conducted 2 PM Sunday, August 15th, from Pleasant Ridge Church. Bro. Nolan Cantrell and Bro. Brett Gibbons will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Mr. England passed from this life on Thursday afternoon, August 12 from Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Charles loved his family, working his delivery jobs, working on his tractor, and fishing. He was a people person who never met a stranger. Charles leaves behind his sons Nathan and Brian England; and his mother, Gerlene England. The family will welcome friends on Saturday evening from 5 until 8 PM at Pleasant Ridge Church.

Funeral services for Tommy Ray Maxwell, age 95 of Cookeville, will be 3 p.m. Sunday August 15 at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Maxwell passed away Thursday morning August 12 at Bethesda Health Care Center. Tom was a farmer. He was a member of Colonial Hills Church of God and was well liked by everyone in the community. Tom and his late wife, Minnie Pearl Maxwell; and late sister-in-law, Ella Mae Kirkpatrick sang in the gospel group, Maxwell Family Trio. His family will receive friends Sunday from 1 p.m. until time of services.

Funeral services for Arthur Ronald Brockett, 86 of Sparta, will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with burial to follow at Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery. He passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 11:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at at the funeral home.

Celebration of Life Services for Mr. Frank Martin, age 87 of Livingston will be conducted 6 p.m., Tuesday, August 17 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. John Cahill will officiate. Mr. Frank Martin passed from this life on Thursday evening, August 12 from the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Frank was currently serving as a County Commissioner for the 1st district of Overton County. He also served as a past Mayor of Livingston, Tennessee. He also was currently serving as a probation officer. Frank was Methodist in Faith, a 1952 graduate of Livingston Academy, and served in the Army National Guard. He enjoyed traveling and was a community service man for many years, where he enjoyed moving the city and county forward. A true family man who enjoyed his family very much, telling a good story and cherished his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Frank leaves behind his daughters, Teresa Collins, Missy (Bruce) Shook , and Mindy (Phillilp) Pennington. The family will welcome friends on Tuesday afternoon from 4 until time of services at Speck Funeral Home.
