Obituaries For Friday, April 3

Mr. Robert J. Anderson, age 72 of Cookeville, brother of Hunter Funeral Home’s Ricky Anderson, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2020 at his home. Robert was born December 16, 1947 in Cookeville to the late Garland Virgil and Bonnie Estell Underwood Anderson.  Robert was a devoted employee of Woodbine Funeral Home in Nashville for 30 years following a time working at Eagle Furniture alongside his brothers Ricky and Gary. He was a collector of antiques and funeral profession antiques. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by brother Ronnie David Anderson. Survivors include his siblings: Donald & Lucille Anderson, Jean Anderson of Cookeville, Gary & Kathy Anderson of Lebanon, Kathy Anderson Lamb of Cookeville, Ricky & Sharon Anderson of Cookeville; A host of nieces and nephews. In consideration of the health and safety of family and friends, a private family graveside service will be conducted at Crest Lawn Cemetery. A public memorial will be planned at a later date once the social restrictions have been lifted.

Mrs. Carlene Alice McBride age 69 of Cookeville, Overton Co., TN went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 02, 2020 at her residence. Mrs. Carlene Alice McBride was born in Livingston, Overton Co., TN on November 17, 1950 to the late Gib and Audie (Bilbrey) Dishman. Carlene worked as a teacher in childcare and head start. She loved everyone unconditionally especially her family and her grandbabies. She loved being a teacher but, most of all she loved her Father-In-Heaven. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by husband: Rev. Lester G. McBride; 2 Sons: Johnathan David McBride and his wife Betty, Jody Allen McBride; 2 Daughters: Angela McBride Timmon, Ammie McBride and her husband Dr. Charles T. Huddleston; 5 Grandsons: Blake Goolsby, Joshua M. Tinnon, Carter T. Huddleston, Charles “Austin”Huddleston, Samuel William McBride; 3 Granddaughters: Sara Eleson Faith Tinnon, Kara Aliceson Rose Tinnon, Abbey Grace Tinnon; 2 Brothers: Linard Dishman, Ricky Dishman; 3 Sisters: Mendy Trevino, Jeanie Kellogg, Patsy Dishman. Private Graveside services will be held for the family at the Carter-Bilbrey Cemetery. The family request that in lieu of flowers please make donations to the Leukemia Foundation.

Harlon Thompson Will Officiate With Interment To Follow. Mr. Hargis Was Born On August 14, 1946, In Clarkrange, To The Late Burton And Nola Neely Hargis. Mr. Hargis Passed Away On Thursday, April 2, 2020, At The Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mr. Hargis Was A Taxidermist, Loved His Family, And Most Of All Loved God. He Is Survived By, His Wife, Brenda Thompson Hargis Of Clarkrange; 4 Daughters And 3 Sons-In-Law, Mary And Scott Harris Of Hayden, AL, Jennifer Bowlin Of Cookeville, Angela And Edric Linder Of Allardt, Scarlett And Mike Taominia Of Monterey; 2 Sons, Johnny Hargis Of Clarkrange, Dale Hargis Of Clarkrange; 17 Grandchildren; 7 Great Grandchildren; Special Cousin, Pauleen Hargis; Special Friends, Earnel Phillips, Robert Harville And Johnny Thompson. In Addition To His Parents, He Was Preceded In Death By A Son, Joseph “Joey” Bowlin; Sisters, Shirley Easterly And Infant Sister, Mary Ellen Hargis.

Graveside services for Randy Dean Goodwin, age 55 of Sparta, will be Saturday April 4, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Young Cemetery officiating will be Ralph Regan. He passed away March 30, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Hospital. Randy was born on April 26, 1964 in Sparta, Tennessee to Paul Gene Goodwin and Linda Lou Goodwin. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul Goodwin and Linda Goodwin; wife, Paula Goodwin. He is survived by his daughters, Brittany Walker, and Tiffany Simmons; grandchildren, Emma, Ilam, Caden; brother, Mike And wife Mitzy Goodwin; siters, Donna and husband Robert Austin, Michelle and husband Eric Page; several nieces and nephews all of Sparta; also a special friend Dorthony Brunch. Due to the recent COVID-19 outbreak there will be a private family visitation and funeral only.

Graveside services for Mrs. Willodean Netherton, 97, of Gainesboro, will be held at 1 P.M. on Saturday, April 4, 2020, at the Pharris Cemetery in the McCoinsville community of Jackson County. She passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2020, at her residence. She was born September 20, 1922, in Jackson County, to the late Cellie Mosley and Nannie Belle Dycus Mosley. She was married to the late Edward D. Netherton, who passed away October 7, 2008. She was a homemaker, and a member of the McCoinsville Church of Christ. Survivors include 1 Son: Jimmy (Robbie) Netherton of Gainesboro; 2 Daughters: Alesia (Bob) Spivey of Gainesboro, and Rose (Jeff) Collins of Galion, OH; 7 Grandchildren: Dana Clinard, Michael Netherton, Randy Spivey, Karla Hensley, Jeff Anderson, Tracy Anderson, and Jeffrey Collins; 14 Great Grandchildren; and 1 Great Great Grandchild. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pharris Cemetery by contacting the funeral home. There will be no visitation or services at the funeral home.

Graveside Services for Mr. Jonathan Wayne McDonald, age 75, of the Bolestown Road will be conducted 2 p.m., Saturday, April 4, 2020 from the McDonald Cemetery. Bro. David Beaty, and Jeremy McDonald will officiate. Wayne passed from this life on his farm on Wednesday morning, April 1, 2020. He was born at home on December 30, 1944 to the late Luther & Azell Sells McDonald. Wayne was a 1962 graduate of Livingston Academy. Wayne had several jobs in his lifetime, but his greatest joy was working at his Restaurant, Wayne’s Grill in Livingston. He loved meeting, cooking, and serving anyone who came into Wayne’s. Wayne was a low key man who enjoyed being outside on his farm. He loved his family, and the friends he served. Wayne leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years, Rosa Nell “Rosie” Matthews McDonald of Alpine; sons, Derek McDonald of Alpine, and Jonathan Lee McDonald and wife Barbara of Alpine; daughters, Mary Angela Martin & husband Steve of the Independence Community, and Amy Joyce Davis & husband Webb of Rickman; grandchildren, Peyton Mackensie McDonald, Katelyn Rose Martin, Evan Douglas Martin, Leah Rae Martin, Luke Buchannan Davis, Lucy Rose Davis, Mia Riley McDonald, and Myla Reese McDonald; brother, Robert McDonald of Livingston; sister, Brenda Young of Monroe; and lots of friends. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his brother, Randall McDonald. The family will welcome friends at the graveside.

Graveside services for Mrs. Olar V. Fox, 99, of Gainesboro, will be held at 1 P.M. on Sunday, April 5, 2020, at the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Cookeville. She passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2020, at Mabry Health Care Center in Gainesboro. She was born May 17, 1920, in Jackson County, to the late William Sewell Birdwell and Pearlie Medlin Birdwell. On December 24, 1938, she was married to the late Herman Davis Fox, who passed away January 6, 1986. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Church of Christ. She was a loving wife and devoted mother, and a faithful servant of God. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 3 Brothers: Robert Birdwell, Odes Birdwell, and William Birdwell; 1 Sister: Peggy Nola Birdwell; 2 Sons in Law: Hugh Sircy and Lewis E. Wheeler; and 1 Grandchild: Penny Kay Fox. Survivors include 1 Son: Raymond (Bonnie) Fox of Cookeville; 6 Daughters: Sue (Charles) Pippin of Bloomington Springs, Ruby (Roger) Anderson of Gainesboro, Roslyn (Adriel) Stout of Cookeville, Audrey (Kenneth) Anderson of Gainesboro, Judy (Ray) Jones of Cookeville, and Rosie (Jerell) Killian of Cookeville; Grandchildren: Sherrie (Brad) Loftis, Alan (Tanda) Pippin, Jackie (Doak) Layne, Kathie (Mike) Driver, Tammie (Tim) Brown, Donna (Brian) Hall, John (Shanna) Anderson, Ashley (Ellen) Wheeler, Sonya (Jason) Anderson, Ronda Stout, Greg (Dalene) Anderson, Kim (Tim) Smith, Sandy (Stacy) Brewington, Christy (Kenny) Cobble, JR (Marlania) Jones, Shane Hawkins, Sam Hawkins, Kendall (Mike) Keller, and Heather (Roy) Jones; 47 Great Grandchildren; 27 Great Great Grandchildren; 1 Brother: Ermon C. Birdwell of Bloomington Springs; 1 Sister: Ila Mae Anderson of Cookeville; and 2 Special Sisters in Law: Rebecca Vinson and Eula Fox. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive. There will be no visitation or services at the funeral home. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Private graveside service for Louie Ray Barlow, age 59, of Murfreesboro, formerly of Cookeville, TN, will be held on Sunday, April 5, 2020 at 2:00PM from the Algood Cemetery in Algood, Tennessee. No public visitation will be held. Louie Ray Barlow passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at the Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN. He was born on January 21, 1961 in Gainesboro, TN to the late Hugh G. and Trudy Z. (Thompson) Barlow. Louie worked as a self-employed salesman during his life. Donations may be made to Samaritan Purse In Memory of Louie Barlow, or the Charity of Choice.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Ruby Parrott Bilbrey, age 88, of Livingston will be conducted 2 p.m., Sunday, April 5, 2020 from the Wirmingham Cemetery. Bro. Chris Coil will officiate. Mrs. Ruby passed from this life on Wednesday evening, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Overton County, Tennessee on November 21, 1931 to the late Charlie & Hessie Stover Parrott. Ruby was a 1953 graduate of Livingston Academy and a member of the Free Communion Church of Christ. She loved her church family, gardening, and cooking. Ruby had a green thumb for plants and flowers and loved her grandchildren dearly. Ruby leaves behind her loving daughter, Carol Ann Rudd and husband, Ronnie of Livingston; grandchildren, Jacob Reeder & wife Afton of Fullerton, CA, Kandace Ward & husband Austin of Livingston, and Elizabeth Rudd of Monroe; great-grandchildren, Kaysen Ward, Mayim Reeder, and Casca Reeder; brothers, Roy Parrott & wife Jessie of Monroe, and Charles “Chig” Parrott & wife Rose of Hilham; sister-in-law, Betty Parrott; and brother-in-law, Herman Bilbrey; several nieces and nephews, and special caregiver, Dean Ledbetter. In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Willie “Bill” Bilbrey; brothers, Kersey Stover, James Parrott, and John Parrott; sister, Katie Parrott. The family will welcome friends at the graveside.

A Private graveside service for Steven Ulysses Norris, 64, of Sparta, will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at Oak Lawn Cemetery with Bro. Jason Lewis officiating. He passed away Friday, April 3, 2020 in Cookeville. Mr. Norris was born on February 25, 1956 to the late Ulysses and Frances Cooper Norris in Greenville, South Carolina. He is survived by; Wife- Catherine Norris; Sons- Eric Norris (Leiha) and Brian Norris (Chelsea); Grandsons- Avi and Milo Norris. A public memorial service will be held on a later date.

Visitation for the Honorable Oliver James Hill, age 87, a resident of Sparta, will be held April 10, 2020 from 4-7:00pm at Hunter Funeral Home following a private service at Sparta City Cemetery. He passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Life Care Center of Sparta. Judge Hill, affectionately known as “Judge” or “Pal”, was the General Sessions Judge in Sparta for 25 years. He was born December 19, 1932 in Sparta to the late Malcolm Carnes Hill, Sr. and Rebecca Lacy Hill. As an avid golfer and tennis player, Judge was a founding member of Sparta Country Club. He was also an outdoorsman, who enjoyed hiking in Scott’s Gulf or walking around his neighborhood on Story Mountain. If he was not in the woods, he was making things out of wood in his workshop at his home. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife Lauretta Rich Hill on December 15, 1995 and his brother Malcolm Carnes Hill, Jr. Surviving family members include his Son: Justin Hill and wife Tatum of Cookeville; Grandson: Oliver Grey Hill; Granddaughter: Lennon Elizabeth Hill; Sisters: Carmine Smith of California and Sarah “Sado” Pfeiffer of North Carolina; Longtime Companion: Judy McDonald and her family Steve, Kim, Elin, Layne, Makayla, Robert, Sherry, Shayna, Rett, Lyla, Gage, Seth, Kendra, and Brody. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorial services for Mrs. Freda Denise Margeson Baker better know as Denise, age 58 of Sparta. will be conducted 1:00pm Friday, April 10, 2020 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. She passed away Tuesday morning , March 24, 2020 at Generations of Spencer. Denise was born November 12, 1961 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late Willie J. Margeson, Sr. and Betty Ross Cope Margeson. She was a farmer and a sawmill worker. At home, she enjoyed taking care of her chickens but her true joy was taking care of her grandchildren. Surviving family members include her daughter Dena Hopkins and husband JohnThe family will receive friends from 11:00am until service time at Hunter Funeral Home.
