Warren’s Webb Hotel Added To National Register

The Tennessee Historical Commission added Warren County’s Webb Hotel to the National Register Of Historical Places.

The hotel is located in Rock Island and is the 22nd property in the county on the register.

“We are very excited,” Director of Magnus Library Brad Walker said. “It has always been one of the prettier buildings because it is very unusual because of the stone work. It has very unusual stone work and it is very pretty from the road. The whole area is well kept down there and very nice.”

The Webb Hotel was built in 1909 when the Webb family moved their enterprise to Warren County. They settled just before the Great Falls Dam and resulting lake was constructed in 1915. With access to the railroad station and the beauty of the structure it was in the perfect location for booming business.

“In Warren County we have always been very proud of our history and trying to preserve as much of it as possible,” Walker said. “Whether it’s genealogical locations like the house or the Library we love our history here and we have a lot of people that travel through the county specifically for historical or genealogical reasons.”

The hotel was included in the registry with eight other properties across the state.
