Cookeville and Upperman High Schools are repairing their gym floors this July.
Putnam County Schools Facilities and Construction Supervisor John Magura said the floors are usually repaired every 10 to 12 years. Each gym floor will not include any new designs.
“The floors will be sanded down to bare wood and repainted and refinished,” Magura said. “They’ll also repaint logos and any school emblems on the floor,”
Magura said the gym floors will be ready by the end of July. The estimated cost for both main gym floors is $24,000. Upperman’s auxiliary gym floor will cost $17,000. Cookeville’s auxiliary gym will cost $15,000.
Praters Flooring from Chattanooga will doing all the work for the gym floors.
