UCHRA Rolls Out New Public Transportation App

UCHRA Public Transportation introducing a new app that allows users to view routes, bus stops and arrival times in real time.

Transportation Director Holly Montooth said it is called Go UC. Montooth said you can download the app now.

“This is probably the most innovative that we have been,” Montooth said. “When you start from a small building in Algood and you’re transporting folks primarily to and from senior centers, now we are 14 counties operating over 100 vehicles.”

Montooth said along with the app, buses are now equipped with scrolling digital signs and voice annunciators that announce the stop locations. Montooth said the agency wanted make their services more inclusive for hearing and visually impaired residents.

“I got the opportunity to ride on a vehicle with one of our passengers that does have vision impairment,” Montooth said. “She was explaining to me the difficulties she has had using the service. So that was just an opportunity for us to start researching what tools are out there to provide a better service.”

Montooth said the app was made possible by working with TDOT. Montooth said riders can set bus arrival alerts and tag favorite routes. Montooth said you will also receive alerts of route changes and delays.

Additionally, riders can visit the Where’s My Bus tab on the UCHRA Public Transportation website to view routes and current bus travel times. Visit www.ucpublictransit.com to learn more about UCHRA Public Transportation and the many services available to help passengers get where they need to go.
