Tips To Keep Your Home Trick-Free This Halloween

The Cookeville Police Department has some common-sense advice to keep your house from being tricked this Halloween season.

Det. Lt. Bobby Anderson said being aware of your surroundings and your neighborhood is important.

“Trim your shrubs back so you can actually see out your windows, make sure you know who your neighbors are and make sure your neighbors know they can look out for you as well. If you have pets, dogs in particular, and they’re barking, check it out,” Anderson said.

Those who post their lives on social media should also be more careful.

“And also, to pay attention to what you’re posting on social media, don’t put on there ‘hey I’m going to be gone this afternoon’ and let everyone know you’re not going to be there,” Anderson said.

Anderson said the Cookeville Police increase their residential patrols at this time of year. But residents can always request an extra patrol if they’re concerned.
